ININ Games is releasing a new installment in the classic shoot ’em up series, R-Type Dimensions III. Developed with Tozai and Irem, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam) in May 2026.
Felix Wagner, publishing producer at ININ Games, stated that “R-Type is a hugely important game, and we’re incredibly proud to have partnered with Tozai to bring these classic games back to life in a big way.” He added that “Dimensions III is our biggest restoration and update project so far, designed for both dedicated fans and players experiencing R-Type for the very first time.”

The original music and sound effects have also been completely recreated. This allows players to instantly switch between the classic and updated versions of R-Type III, giving them both a truly nostalgic experience and a fresh, modern take on the game.
