Ubisoft has revealed what’s coming next in Rainbow Six Siege for its eleventh year. The first season starts on March 3rd and features a special collaboration with Konami: Solid Snake, the main character from Metal Gear Solid, will be joining the game as a playable operator. A trailer announcing his arrival is available to watch below.
David Hayter returns as the voice of Solid Snake, who will join the game as a playable Attacker next month with the start of the new season, ‘Operation Silent Hunt.’ Snake will be a permanent character available in all game modes. A new video highlights his abilities and weapons, offering a preview of his combat potential.
Solid Snake carries a silenced .45 pistol, an F2 assault rifle with a grip for better control, and a long-range PMR90A2 rifle. He uses a Soliton Radar MKIII to locate enemies and gain a tactical advantage. Snake can also scavenge supplies from defeated players, finding pouches that restock his grenades and gadget uses, helping him stay equipped throughout the match.
The Soliton Radar MKIII might seem powerful, acting like a mini-map in a game that usually doesn’t have one, giving players a tactical advantage. However, it has limitations: it only displays activity on your current floor, and its view isn’t very broad. While it shows details like breakable walls, it only reveals nearby rooms, not the entire floor layout.
The new Season 11 will include a special, temporary game mode where players compete in 4v4 matches. In this mode, Snake and Zero lead teams of operators to retrieve stolen data. Fans of Metal Gear will also enjoy new character skins, including Gray Fox for Jackal and Meryl for Ash.
During the announcement, creative director Joshua Mills shared that Season 1’s ‘Redacted’ event will bring the world of Metal Gear Solid into Rainbow Six Siege. This limited-time 4v4 mode features Snake and Zero leading a team to recover stolen data. Players can also unlock exclusive character skins, like Jackal as Gray Fox and Ash as Meryl, and will hear iconic voice acting from David Hayter as Snake. For longtime Metal Gear Solid fans, a special new mission called ‘Last Assignment’ has been added to the Dual Front mode.
Next year will bring exciting new content to Year 11. Season 2 will revamp the Dokkaebi operator, turning her into an attacker focused on disrupting enemy intelligence, and will include new gadgets for her. Players will also be able to explore the Calypso Casino map, originally from the classic Rainbow Six Vegas games. Season 3 will add a new Defender operator and a new Operator Mastery system for long-term progression. Finally, Season 4 will introduce the Social HUB, a place for players to relax and socialize within the game.
