Rainbow Six Siege X Is Getting Borderlands Skins Soon But Fans Are Divided

The Rainbow Six Siege team announced in a recent update that they are planning to integrate Borderlands-themed content into their game, which coincides with the upcoming release of Borderlands 4 this year. In the brief sneak peek provided, details about the collaboration remain scarce, revealing only the anticipated date and what appears to be Psycho bandit’s skin from the iconic Borderlands series.

In a simple rephrase, The label “R6 Siege X Borderlands” collaboration suggests a fusion of these two games, but it seems that the developers overlooked the chance to embody the changes from the latest Borderlands update within this crossover, which gives the title a sense of incompleteness.

On June 10th, the Rainbow Six Siege X update was launched, positioning itself as a significant transformation for the players of Rainbow Six Siege. However, this update has received varied responses from the audience. The update shifted the game towards a free-to-play format, but certain aspects such as Ranked and Siege Cup remain pay-to-access features.

Due to the negative sentiment surrounding the Borderlands collaboration, it seems to have attracted more game criticism rather than excitement for the Rainbow Six Siege X overhaul. Currently, Steam reviews rate the game a “Mixed” 62%, significantly lower than its usual 83% “Very Positive” average based on all reviews.

In response to the promotional posts about the upcoming game shared across multiple social media sites, many critics tended to concentrate their comments on the game’s issues rather than the Borderlands partnership itself.

User Mar is struggling not to feel frustrated at the moment, as they find it challenging to enjoy ranked play and are also finding it difficult to get excited about the Borderlands collaboration.

Following the recent Siege X update, some gamers have been encountering an overwhelming number of cheaters, hackers, and exploiters – a problem they didn’t face when playing the game beforehand.

It’s true that in about 60-80% of the games I play each day, I encounter players using wallhacks without drones, and at times my team and I seem to be stuck in place. Unfortunately, ranked matches remain unbalanced until these cheaters are handled.

For some players of Rainbow Six Siege X, this collaboration has lost a bit of excitement due to the early leak. Weeks before the official announcement, images of the Borderlands collaboration surfaced online in May, revealing two character skins that were planned for the game. It seems that hackers have already been using these Borderlands skins within the game and showcasing them to others.

Despite the numerous hurdles, some enthusiasts eagerly anticipated obtaining Borderlands-themed merchandise. Yet, others questioned the trajectory of these partnerships, believing they were altering the identity of the franchise beyond recognition, making it appear significantly different from its original form when it debuted in 2015. Initially, Rainbow Six Siege maintained its cosmetic items within the game’s universe. However, since 2020, fans have been exposed to an influx of crossovers from various universes such as Assassin’s Creed, Arknights, Resident Evil, Rick and Morty, and Yakuza.

The upcoming Borderlands collaboration, hinting at more details on July 15th, is the first significant one for the game since the release of the Siege X update. However, if problems with Rainbow Six Siege X are still fresh in players’ minds when it releases, there might be a less-than-excited response from them.
