Rambo has discovered a fresh start, with Millennium Media working on an origin film titled “John Rambo”. This prequel to the 1982 original “First Blood” is set during the Vietnam War, and follows the early life of John Rambo. According to Millennium, this new project represents a “new chapter” in the five-film series that Sylvester Stallone co-wrote and starred in, including the 2008 sequel and 2019’s “Rambo: Last Blood”.
According to Deadline, Millennium has cast Noah Centineo in the role of a younger John Rambo for an upcoming prequel, which will depict Rambo’s military career between 1966 and 1974. At this point, Sylvester Stallone isn’t associated with the project, but he is aware that Centineo has been chosen to assume one of his most famous roles.
In this rephrased version, I’ve attempted to make the sentence more accessible while maintaining its essence:
John Rambo brings together Lara Jean Covey (star of To All the Boys) with screenwriting duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, who also worked on Black Adam featuring Dwayne Johnson. Centineo, in his roles, portrayed Atom Smasher, a superhero with size-shifting abilities from the Justice Society, and later Navy SEAL Brian Alazzawi in Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland’s well-received film Warfare.
We’re excited to unveil a brand new installment in the Rambo series, a heartfelt homage to one of cinema’s most iconic franchises. This venture promises to captivate both die-hard fans and those just discovering this cinematic masterpiece,” said Millennium President Jonathan Yunger in a statement. “Director Jalmari Helander, known for his remarkable creativity and boundless energy, is the ideal choice to bring a thrilling, conceptually innovative action adventure to life.
In a recent report by Deadline, it’s been announced that Neal Henderson, who successfully directed the 2022 war thriller “Sisu,” is set to direct again. Lionsgate, known for distributing action films like the Rambo series, is said to be the leading contender to acquire the rights when the package goes up for sale at Cannes. It’s also expected that the new Rambo movie will begin filming in Thailand early in 2026.
Ever since I was 11 years old, Rambo has been my favorite character. It’s almost unbelievable that I now have the opportunity to create a movie featuring him myself. The series of events leading up to this point somehow ties in perfectly with my childhood dreams, making everything feel incredibly meaningful. I’m thrilled to bring this iconic action hero back for another big-screen adventure.
Kevin King-Templeton, who has worked as a producer on movies such as the first two “Creed” films and several Stallone-led productions like “Cop Land”, “Rocky Balboa”, “The Expendables”, “Bullet to the Head”, “Escape Plan”, and “Rambo: Last Blood”, is now working with Les Weldon (known for “Red Sonja”), Avi Lerner (“The Expendables 4”), and Jonathan Yunger (“Guns Up”) under Templeton Media. The executive producers on this project are Trevor Short (who worked on the 2011 version of “Conan the Barbarian”), Dallas Sonnier (“Bone Tomahawk”), and Amanda Presmyk (“Dragged Across Concrete”).
