Even though details slipped out early, Ubisoft still managed to excite fans last week with the announcement of Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, which became available to play the very next day.
This game, created by Digital Eclipse, brings together every version of the original Rayman, including a never-before-seen, unfinished prototype from the Super Nintendo era. It also includes the studio’s signature behind-the-scenes content, such as interviews and rare artwork.
This game had the potential to be a huge success, and it largely is. However, longtime fans feel something is missing, and the main issue seems to be the music.
The game now features a new soundtrack intended to sound familiar, but many longtime fans are disappointed because it doesn’t capture the feel of the original music they remember.
The new soundtrack for the Steam release has received mixed reviews, with many players expressing disappointment that the original music isn’t included.
It’s common for updated game versions to feature rearranged soundtracks, and while these new versions are often well-done, many players prefer the original music they remember from the first time they played. Some remasters let you switch between the old and new soundtracks, but the Rayman collection doesn’t offer that option.
A fan suggested bringing back the original soundtrack on the Ubisoft Discord, and a Ubisoft representative said they’d consider it. However, it’s not guaranteed, and ultimately depends on who owns the rights to the music.
Hopefully, this issue gets fixed soon. And if you’re playing Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, let us know what you think in the comments!
