It brings me joy to engage in amusement, enhance my appearance, and partake in games. It shouldn’t come as a shock that I’ve been an admirer of the Razer Kraken Kitty series of gaming headsets for quite some time now, having developed this fondness upon my review of the Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro model.
For Windows Central, that review you’re seeing was my very first gaming headset evaluation. Since then, numerous audio devices have passed through my workstation. Now, the long-awaited day has arrived – the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is official, and Razer generously provided me with one of the earliest units to test out.
The newly released Kitty headset deviates from its previous model in certain aspects, yet these modifications enhance it significantly. Recently, I had an opportunity to converse with Razer’s Global Head of Design, Charlie Bolton, and learned that even more substantial changes are on the horizon for this esteemed product line.
In the meantime, though, here are my thoughts on the brand-new Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro.
Unboxing the new Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro

As an analyst, upon initial examination, it’s evident that the design of this new product appears to be a continuation of the solid foundation Razer established with their Kraken V4 mid-range wireless gaming headset. Having had the chance to review the Kraken V4 and appreciating its well-rounded versatility, I was pleasantly unsurprised to notice the striking similarities between the two.
Essentially, you’re encountering a similar initial setup process, accompanied by thoughtfully coordinated extra items. The device sports the sleeker Kraken design with 40mm drivers, THX spatial audio, multi-colored RGB lighting in nine distinct zones, dual Bluetooth and wireless 2.4GHz connectivity (without concurrent source switching), and an enhanced, retractable microphone – all aspects remaining consistent.
If you’re curious about what enhancements Razer has made, simply take a look. Notably, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is available in stylish white and quartz (pink) color options. It features RGB-illuminated cat ears on top, and surprisingly, it retains the same price point of $179.99 at Razer.com, a fact I find both unexpected and delightful.
The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro stands out as a versatile and harmonious mid-tier gaming headset, offering a balanced performance that sets it apart as the best of its kind in the Kitty series so far.
Instead of maintaining the high-quality construction, it seems they’ve opted to reduce costs slightly in some areas, such as switching the durable fabric earcup cushions on the Kraken V4 to what appears to be less durable leatherette ones.
I believe this represents a reasonable concession; Razer has once again managed to find a good middle ground, similar to their standard Kraken V4. Although it lacks the interchangeable ear cups of the previous Kraken Kitty V2 Pro model, its sleek design, wireless functionality, and affordable starting price compensate for that in my opinion.
While I was hoping to find a feline-themed version of the top-of-the-line Razer Kraken V4 Pro that I recently reviewed, I can certainly comprehend the reasoning behind its absence. The Kraken Kitty series undeniably boasts a dedicated fanbase, yet it remains somewhat specialized. Manufacturing an ultra-premium variant might not be commercially viable given the limited number of customers who would purchase such a product.
Still the best gaming headset with cat ears, but what’s next?

In our recent chat, Charlie Bolton, Razer’s Global Head of Design, mentioned that they are considering expanding the Kitty line. During our discussion, he expressed curiosity about potential new directions for this well-established family: “What could we do with it now? What’s the next step?
For quite some time, the Kraken Kitty headsets have been associated primarily with their Kraken counterparts, given that the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is essentially a feline-themed version of the Kraken V4. This connection has proven to make sense, and I’m confident that this headset will be highly favored by many. However, it appears that Razer might be planning a significant change in strategy for the upcoming generation.
The Kitty family still has a huge, huge way to go, even if it’s not part of Kraken.

Despite not being affiliated with Kraken, the Kitty family has a long journey ahead of them, according to Bolton. I’m eager to witness their progress, but I’m not expecting immediate results. There’s at least a couple of years until we see the Kitty V4, and there’s no need for haste. In the meantime, I’ll be evaluating a fantastic new wireless gaming headset, which I’ll be writing about for Windows Central soon.
Currently, I find myself quite impressed! The design of this headset is truly appealing, and the three color options – black, white, and pink – are a nice touch. So far, the audio quality and performance have been outstanding. I can’t help but wish there was an Xbox-specific version available. Though my testing isn’t complete yet, it seems Razer is off to a fantastic start with the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro gaming headset. You can grab one now for $179.99 on Razer.com in your preferred color.
In addition, the budget-friendly, wired Razer Kraken Kitty V3 X is available for just $59.99 on Razer.com if you’re looking to save some money. Meanwhile, Razer still offers the Kraken Kitty V2 BT as a mid-range option. However, if you prefer a wireless headset, it’s generally worth spending more for the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro.
