Following the release of a gameplay trailer for their upcoming VR game, *Reach*, developer nDreams Elevation has shared more details in a new post on the PlayStation Blog. The post highlights features like full-body tracking, the seamless transition between fighting and movement, and how the game will take advantage of the power of the PS5 and the PlayStation VR2 headset.
VR’s ability to create a sense of ‘being there’ is a major advantage, especially for immersive roleplaying. As Glenn Brace, studio head, explained, their game *Reach* aimed to maximize this feeling by creating a highly responsive, full-body avatar. This allows players to truly feel present in the virtual world – whether they’re grabbing for support, hanging precariously, or evading danger – making their actions feel natural and realistic in a way only VR can deliver.
One thing Brace really highlighted is how crucial movement is in *Reach*. It’s not just about getting from A to B; how you *move* is a core part of the gameplay. Because the game tracks your whole body, you can pull off some seriously cool, realistic parkour moves as you explore the underground world. It makes getting around feel really dynamic and immersive!
According to Brace, player freedom is central to the game’s design. Players have a lot of choice in how they approach battles. Every tool and weapon is versatile, offering multiple uses – not just for fighting, but also for getting around and solving puzzles.
Brace, the developer of *Reach*, explains that the PlayStation VR2’s Sense controllers will add to the game’s immersion with features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, letting players feel the weight and texture of objects. The game will also take advantage of the PS VR2’s high resolution and smooth performance to deliver detailed visuals.
The VR game *Reach* will be available on PC VR (through Steam), Meta Quest 3, and PlayStation VR2 starting October 16th. Developer nDreams Elevation previously released a trailer in August detailing pre-order bonuses: a Traditional Ferran Outfit, an Ornate Bow, a Ferran Guard Shield, Traditional Gauntlets, and an Ornate Drone.
Last week, the studio unveiled a new trailer during PC Gaming Show – Tokyo Direct, giving players a glimpse into the game’s world. The trailer highlighted the underground environments of Ferra, the city where Reach is set, and showed off some of the enemies players will encounter. The game’s story centers around the main character’s descent into the depths while searching for a vital Power Core.
