In a heartfelt tribute, the son of country music legend Reba McEntire and her former partner Narvel Blackstock, honored his half-brother Brandon Blackstock following his tragic passing at the age of 48, after a prolonged struggle with cancer.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram on August 8th, Shelby expressed the indescribable sorrow our family is feeling. Yesterday, we experienced a devastating loss as we said goodbye to Brandon Blackstock, who was more than just a brother, father, grandfather, and son; he was an irreplaceable part of our family with his wit, intelligence, and zest for life. His absence will be felt deeply, but the lessons he imparted and the precious memories we shared will forever stay with me.

In simpler terms, he said, “For each cherished memory we created, there will be countless others we won’t have the chance to create together, yet I believe you’ll always be with me. Whether it’s a hunt, a flight, or our everyday moments, I’ll always feel your spirit nearby.

Moreover, Shelby openly admitted that he would forever view Brandon as his elder brother, given their shared relationship with Elisa Gayle Ritter as their mother.

On August 7th, it was announced through Brandon’s representative that he had passed away. After a long battle with cancer spanning over three years, the talented manager – who was married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022 – lost his life.

He died quietly, with his loved ones by his side, as reported by his representative to NBC News. We appreciate your sympathies and kindness, and we kindly request that you honor our privacy during this extremely challenging period.

Although Reba hasn’t shared any public comments about Brandon’s unfortunate demise so far, she has previously opened up about her close relationship with her stepson, who is the father of kids named River (age 11) and Remington (age 9), together with Kelly.

In an interview with The Boot in 2010, the singer stated that he doesn’t view Brandon, Chassidy, and Shawna as his step-children. Instead, he acknowledges them all as his own.
