Rebecca Ferguson’s 2026 Sci-Fi Movie Is a Prime Video Hit in the U.S. After Box Office Bomb, and She’s Dominating Netflix Too

Rebecca Ferguson first gained widespread recognition over ten years ago with her memorable role as Ilsa Faust in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Since then, she’s appeared in many successful films, including two more Mission: Impossible movies, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series, and Doctor Sleep, a continuation of The Shining. While she’s built an impressive career quickly, not all of her films have been hits with critics or audiences. Earlier this year, she starred in the sci-fi thriller Mercy with Chris Pratt, which didn’t do well in theaters or with reviewers. However, it’s now gaining popularity on streaming services, and it’s not the only Ferguson film currently topping those charts.

According to FlixPatrol, which tracks what’s popular on streaming services, Mercy is currently the most-watched movie on Prime Video, just ahead of Agent Zeta. On Netflix, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is the top film, beating out the recent sci-fi success War Machine.

Why Rebecca Ferguson’s New Movies Are Dominating Streaming

I’m not surprised these Rebecca Ferguson films are doing so well! Honestly, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is exactly what fans wanted – a fantastic ending to an already amazing series. Everyone’s been raving about it, especially Cillian Murphy’s performance as Tommy Shelby, and it’s clearly spreading through word of mouth on Netflix. Peaky Blinders built up such a dedicated following over the years, so of course people were eager to see how the story wrapped up with this film. It really delivers!

While the movie Mercy did surprisingly win its opening weekend at the box office, its overall performance was weak. It marked Pratt’s lowest opening weekend as a lead actor, earning only $54.5 million worldwide. Critics didn’t love it either, giving it a low 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Some believe Mercy isn’t terrible, and the initial idea for the story had potential. However, many viewers felt the movie didn’t live up to that potential, resulting in a disappointing final product. It’s possible the film’s initial popularity stemmed from curiosity more than genuine excitement.

Now that movies are available to stream much sooner after their release, many viewers are choosing to wait and watch at home, especially for films that aren’t part of a big franchise. Unless a movie like Sinners or Project Hail Mary generates a lot of excitement and makes people fear missing out, it’s difficult to get them to go to the theater. They’re more likely to try something like Mercy when they can easily watch it at home. People can watch it without paying extra, right in their living room, so it makes sense that Mercy is performing well on streaming. Many are probably curious to see if it’s truly as bad as critics say.

Rebecca Ferguson’s 2026 began slowly, but she’s ending the year strong. She’s returning as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three, one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year. The first trailer for Dune 3 suggests director Denis Villeneuve has created a suitably grand finale to the series, filled with stunning visuals and engaging stories. While Ferguson’s part in Dune: Part Three might not be huge, the film is expected to be a success, both in theaters and later on streaming services.
