Jamie and Rebekah Vardy are giving viewers a personal look into their lives with a new reality show. The series follows them as they leave their home in Leicester City after 13 years to start a new chapter living abroad.
The series follows Rebekah Vardy and her family as they relocate to Italy, revealing the challenges she faces adjusting to a new life that doesn’t quite match her expectations.
ITV has previewed how Rebekah Vardy is handling the stress of her recent move, looking back on difficult times in the UK and determined to move past the ‘Wagatha’ scandal and start fresh.
Ahead of the series launch, TopMob sat down with Rebekah Vardy to discuss the new series…
So tell us, why did you want to make a reality TV show about your new life in Italy?
You know, people keep asking me why now, and it’s a really good question. We’ve had offers to do something like this before, but it never felt quite right. But after Jamie did that Netflix documentary, it just clicked. It felt like the perfect moment to share our story because we actually had something new to talk about – a fresh perspective, you know?

We were facing a big change – moving our entire family to Italy – and we felt like if we were going to take the leap, now was the right moment.
And how have you been able to adapt to your new Italian life?
Moving to Italy has been amazing, but also quite challenging. We’ve been trying to enjoy the adventure while also coping with the stress of such a big change. Leaving Leicester after so many years was really emotional, and it’s definitely nerve-wracking to start over in a completely new place. We’d been fortunate enough to stay in one location for a long time, so this was a first for us.
I was absolutely thrilled when Jamie got the chance to play in Italy! It felt like a dream come true. It was going to be a real test, a new level of competition, and honestly, we were completely ready to take it on.
How’s your Italian?
“ Mm, poco.”
You’ve said the media often builds a public image of people, and you’re no exception. Do you see this as a chance to set the record straight and share a more accurate portrayal of who you are?
There are many false ideas about people in the public spotlight, and I’ve experienced that firsthand for years. I felt this was a good chance to share what our lives are really like, while still protecting our young children, and show people that it’s not always as glamorous as it seems.

As a critic, I found this scene to be a beautiful moment of respite. It felt like the characters – and the audience – were finally allowed to breathe after a period of intense conflict. And honestly, capturing that quiet relief on camera was a brilliant move; it added a layer of authenticity that really resonated with me.
Honestly, it was exactly what we all needed – a chance to truly rest and recharge. We’d been under a lot of scrutiny from the tabloids and the public, and it was so good to get away from all of that. It gave us the space to think about what matters most as a family and just spend quality time together, which has been incredible. It’s been a wonderful break, but I’m happy to be back now.
We understand the challenges you face when you’re working hard and dealing with difficult situations. How do you protect yourself emotionally? Where do you turn for support? And how do you stay positive and motivated?
I believe it stems from being able to bounce back from difficult experiences. Throughout my life, I’ve faced many uncomfortable situations. Growing up, I was often discouraged from expressing my emotions, which is probably why I sometimes appear stoic or even a bit harsh – people jokingly call it ‘resting bitch face.’

You know, people often get the wrong idea about me, but it’s really not who I am at all. It’s more like a protective shell I’ve built up. I think anyone would do that, honestly – you can’t avoid criticism completely, can you? That’s just part of life. You have to accept both the positive and negative. But when you’re constantly in the spotlight, everything – the good and the bad – feels so much stronger.
It’s incredible to be in front of that many people, hearing them all chant your name. I’m curious, what did you do to connect with the crowd like that? Is there a technique we could all try?
You know, I honestly don’t think I have a thick skin. When things get tough, especially at away games, the noise from both sets of fans kind of cancels each other out, which is actually a good thing. I truly believe that any kind of abuse directed at anyone is unacceptable and frankly, disgusting – and often rooted in sexism. But I am human, so it does bother me sometimes. When it does, I remind myself why I’m there in the first place: to support my husband, and that’s what matters most.
It’s amazing to see the support everyone gives each other when the ‘Inbetweeners’ visit. It felt like, and I could be wrong, that you’ve all been incredibly patient with them over time. But then, suddenly, you were all so excited to have them back! They just brought a sense of comfort and familiarity, like seeing old friends.
I really adore these guys. They’re genuinely some of the kindest people I know, and I started calling them ‘The Inbetweeners’ years ago when we first met. They were just so wonderfully chaotic, it instantly reminded me of the show! The nickname just stuck. What I love most is how down-to-earth they are – they don’t put on airs or try to spare your feelings. If they have constructive criticism, they’ll definitely share it. For example, if someone like Jamie plays poorly, they’ll be the first to point it out in the group chat, honestly and directly.
How much control do you have over your family life?
I have no involvement in the decisions made about football; that’s all Jamie. He’s the one who makes those calls. People sometimes say I’m pulling the strings, but that’s not true at all. I don’t have anything to do with the football side of things. We’re fortunate to have the life we do thanks to Jamie’s career, which has given us an amazing lifestyle. I’m very self-critical and would never take credit for his success – I just support him where I can.
You’ve helped him at some key moments?
He achieved his success through his own efforts. I realized I couldn’t force him to change, only offer support. I tried to tell him he was losing control and needed to make a choice, and that whatever he decided, it should be for the right reasons. I simply wanted him to find personal fulfillment, whether that meant staying with me or finding happiness elsewhere – it had to be his own decision. Throughout everything, I tried to remain calm and supportive amidst the chaos.

I’ve really enjoyed my time in Italy because it’s allowed me to focus completely on being a mom and my family. I’ve been able to care for the kids, experience a new culture, and meet interesting people.
The past ten years have been full of ups and downs, and it leaves us wondering what the future holds. Will Jamie continue living in Italy? And will you join him there? Plus, your children are getting older and soon will be starting a new phase of their education – what changes are on the horizon?
Honestly, I don’t know what’s going to happen next – it’s the big question everyone’s asking! But that’s football, isn’t it? You just have to focus on each day as it comes. What I’ve realized through all of this is how strong we are as a team. Whatever comes our way, whether it’s tough times or great opportunities, I truly believe we’re prepared to face it all together.
How did you feel about having cameras film you at home? Did it feel like having company? And what was it like looking back on everything through the journal from your first year?
It was surprisingly challenging, honestly. I hadn’t been filmed in a long time, and it took some getting used to. But I think when you sign up for a project like this, you have to be completely genuine and open. Everything needs to feel natural – there’s no room for anything fake or planned. What you see is truly authentic.
Looking back, it felt like the perfect moment to make this project happen. It offered a fresh perspective and a lot to discuss, and I was incredibly lucky to work with such a talented and fun-loving crew. We had a great time filming, although it wasn’t always easy – there are some really powerful and difficult scenes. Overall, it’s been a fantastic experience, and I’ve truly enjoyed every minute of it.
The heart of this story is your wonderful relationship, Rebecca and Jamie. It’s a really special and lasting love story, especially considering the world of football and everything that comes with it. So, what’s your secret to making it work?
People often ask how you know you’ve found the right person. Honestly, we didn’t get it right away – we made a lot of mistakes at the beginning! We’re actually celebrating our 10-year wedding anniversary next Monday. I think the key to a lasting relationship is learning to balance each other, spending time together, and, most importantly, supporting each other’s goals and passions. It’s about complementing each other in all areas of life. And really, communication is the most important thing. Without open and honest communication, a relationship just won’t work.
