The Blood of Dawnwalker is no doubt one of the highly anticipated games releasing next year.
This game, created by the team behind CD Projekt Red, tells the story of Coen, a man who becomes a vampire. He embarks on a dangerous journey to rescue his family from the powerful vampire, Brencis.
The game’s story initially seemed interesting, but it surprisingly lacks a central storyline or main quest. Konrad Tomaskiewicz, director at Rebel Wolves, shared this information in an interview with Eurogamer.
According to Tomaskiewicz, your character grows through the challenges you face. You’ll always know where your opponents are and can strike when you’re ready. It’s your choice whether to tackle these challenges alone, or to prepare by finding better equipment, improving your skills, completing side quests, and recruiting allies for help.
He explained that his team’s goal was to let players freely explore and enjoy the game as they wished.
And this can be achieved by making the game as close to a pen-and-paper RPG as possible.

Essentially, you could immediately rush to where your family is being held. However, doing so would almost certainly result in a swift defeat.
So, you’ll still get to experience all the classic RPG elements – exploring the game world, improving your character, completing optional tasks, interacting with characters, and generally doing everything you’d expect in this type of game.
No Main Quest, Just Freedom to Do What You Want to Do
Even though the game doesn’t have a traditional main storyline, you still need to rescue your family within 30 days. How you use that time to get ready for the final challenge is your choice.

Tomaszkiewicz stated the game won’t simply end after the 30-day limit, but they haven’t shared how it will continue yet. We’ll likely learn more when the game is released.
Tomaszkiewicz explained that they aimed to innovate and establish a unique identity within the genre.
The game Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to launch in 2026 on both PC and consoles, though Rebel Studios hasn’t announced a specific release date.
