Rockstar Games has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption is being released on December 2nd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and – unexpectedly – iOS and Android devices through Netflix.
As a fan, I’m really excited to hear that the game is getting a big upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S! It’s going to look amazing with improved graphics, HDR, and it’ll run up to 4K at 60 FPS – thankfully, the PS4 version already got that smooth 60 FPS with an update, so we know it’s possible. And for Switch 2 owners, that’s fantastic news too! We’ll get HDR and 60 FPS, plus cool features like DLSS and even mouse controls, which is a first for the Switch!
Players on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the new version for free. A bonus is that anyone who owns the Xbox One version that works with the new version can also upgrade without cost. Plus, you can pick up right where you stopped on PlayStation and Switch consoles using your existing save files.
This new release includes everything from the Game of the Year Edition, but it won’t have any online multiplayer or extra downloadable content. You can read our reviews of the PS4 and PC versions for more details.
