Redux – A Repeating Cycle of Retribution
The narrative begins with Irene’s (McManus) actions that lead to Neville’s (Holm) demise. Yet, this was not a unique event in her life. Instead, she has been traversing various parallel realities, repeatedly taking Neville’s life as a form of retribution for his heinous act – the murder of her daughter. This cycle of vengeance forms the core of Redux.
During her recent journey, she encounters Mia, the most recent target of Neville. With a heavy heart, she finds herself obliged to bring Mia along for her assignment. Yet, matters become intricate as her transportation device unexpectedly malfunctions, forcing the improbable duo to contemplate their next steps in accomplishing their mission.
Verdict on Redux Redux
Recap
The film chronicles a mourning mother’s journey across various realities, seeking vengeance against the individual responsible for her child’s death. Despite traversing numerous realms, the most recent one presents complications that may reveal flaws in her ongoing struggle.
Best Parts
In movies that explore the theme of traveling between parallel universes, there’s always an intriguing dialogue about how it’s handled. This innovative approach not only introduces a concept but also presents a plot for retaliation against someone who caused significant harm. Thankfully, it avoids delving too deeply into the scientific explanations, which is a definite advantage. Moreover, it spices up the revenge theme with a thrilling sci-fi angle by suggesting eliminating a murderer across all realities. The acting, particularly Michaela McManus’s performance, receives high praise.
Final Thoughts – Redux Redux brings a fresh complex spin on the revenge thriller.
