Since the popular show Regular Show finished airing, Cartoon Network has been missing its unique brand of humor and adventure. Thankfully, a continuation of the series was announced, promising a return to the park and its quirky employees. Now, fans can rejoice! Regular Show: The Lost Tapes is officially coming this year, and we’re getting a first look at footage from the new series soon.
Fans of Regular Show can look forward to Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, coming to Cartoon Network on May 11th. This new series brings back the popular characters after the original show ended in 2017. With eight seasons and nearly 250 episodes, it’s no surprise the network wants to revisit the world of Mordecai, Rigby, and Benson. A new trailer is expected to be released on the show’s YouTube page in just three days, and it promises a collection of the funniest and most memorable moments from the series – including battles with the Moon Monster and pranks on Benson – letting fans relive their favorite scenes with the park employees and their friends.
What Are The Lost Tapes?
If you missed it, the ending of Regular Show actually gave us a clue about what the “Lost Tapes” are. After Pops passed away and we saw the characters years later, it was revealed that all their adventures were recorded on VHS tapes. This likely means the new spin-off will feature previously unseen adventures of Mordecai and Rigby, possibly from the original eight seasons or even earlier. While we know some details, many questions about the show still remain.
Before the new series launched, people started speculating it wouldn’t just air on Cartoon Network, but potentially on Adult Swim as well. Although the show was initially created for all ages, its themes could definitely appeal more to older viewers.
William Salyers, the voice of Rigby, recently discussed the upcoming spin-off and shared the cast’s initial worry about contradicting the original Regular Show finale. He explained that fans had voiced the same concern – wanting to preserve what they felt was a strong and satisfying ending. Salyers himself didn’t want to diminish a finale he considered one of the best he’d been a part of, and he was relieved to hear the spin-off wouldn’t undo it.
