Linda Hamilton expresses no urgency to part ways with the series “Resident Alien.” During an interview with ComicBook for its fourth season promotion, Hamilton spoke about her affection for the show’s long-lasting nature. She was initially led to believe that her character, General Macalester, would have a brief stint; however, she now appreciates its extended run. Hamilton and her fellow cast members feel they are still discovering their groove, and it seems the audience agrees. “Resident Alien” airs on Friday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Syfy and USA Network, and Hamilton hopes this continues indefinitely.
We inquired about Hamilton’s feelings on evolving Macalester from a character expected to depart early into a beloved figure. She expressed, “It’s incredibly exciting! I’ve never worked on a show for four consecutive years, and being able to develop characters and incorporate ideas for their growth based on the creative direction of the show has been absolutely wonderful. I wasn’t aware that my character was going to be written off; they didn’t mention it when I was hired as a one-season actor.

Indeed, I’d love this production to run eternally,” I expressed. “Truthfully, it’s more than a desire – it’s an aspiration. We’re still in the process of discovering our stride. It’s been remarkable thus far, but in terms of audience reception, we seem to have found a sweet spot where people are genuinely appreciating and enjoying what we’ve prepared for them.
Hamilton shares sentiments similar to many in Hollywood and TV enthusiasts alike. Many reminisce about when television series had the chance to build an audience and establish their unique identity, lamenting those that were swiftly taken off the air during the streaming era. Fortunately, Resident Alien has managed to stay afloat for the past four years, initially broadcast on cable and later available for streaming on Peacock.
The show features Alan Tudyk portraying an alien disguised as a human doctor named Harry Vanderspeigle on earth. Originally sent to eliminate humanity, he unexpectedly develops empathy for Earth’s inhabitants and strives to aid them in facing various other extraterrestrial perils. Yet, his life becomes perilous too, given that certain humans can inexplicably penetrate his disguise.
Hamilton portrays a U.S. general character with a personal grudge against extraterrestrials. She serves within an enigmatic organization whose mission is to safeguard Earth from potential alien invasions. Throughout her life, she has been relentlessly pursuing indisputable evidence that aliens exist. Hamilton appeared as a regular cast member during the first three seasons and makes guest appearances in Season 4.
Fresh installments of the series titled “Resident Alien” broadcast every Friday evening at 10 p.m., Eastern Time, on both Syfy and USA Network. If you’d like to catch up on older episodes, they are currently available for streaming on Peacock.
