Resident Evil 9 Will Star Leon and Jill as Protagonists – Rumour

As a seasoned fan of the Resident Evil series, I must say that the latest leak about Resident Evil 9 has me absolutely giddy with anticipation! The prospect of Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine teaming up once more is a dream come true for many fans like myself. And the idea of Chris Redfield and Barry Burton making appearances as well? That just takes things to another level!

There’s always plenty of anticipation about what’s coming up for the Resident Evil franchise, even though the next major game in the series hasn’t been officially announced yet, rumors and leaks have surfaced, providing some intriguing details about its plot, environment, gameplay elements, and more.

The information about Resident Evil 9 originates from Biohazard Declassified, which is presented in a video uploaded by Residence of Evil. This source suggests that the main characters of Resident Evil 9 will be Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, who are beloved by fans. Leon’s appearance is said to resemble how he looked in the 2012 animated film Resident Evil: Damnation, while Jill will have a similar look as portrayed in the 2023 film Dead Island. However, she will also wear a tactical outfit reminiscent of what she wore in Resident Evil 5: Lost in Nightmares.

In the upcoming storyline, it’s rumored that beloved characters Chris Redfield and Barry Burton will reappear, providing assistance to Leon and Jill remotely through radio communications during their missions. Additionally, Rosemary Winters will be brought up by Chris, suggesting she could play a crucial role in the fight against Mutamycete. Her blood might even be used to develop a vaccine for the island’s inhabitants.

The game is rumored to be set four years following the occurrences in Resident Evil Village, making it happen a few years prior to the Shadows of Rose DLC. This new installment will pick up where Resident Evil 7 and Village left off. Agents Leon (DSO) and Jill (BSAA), are dispatched to an island to look into claims that Eveline, a biological weapon, is being mass-produced using Mutamycete.

According to the recent leak, the island in Resident Evil 9 will feature various distinct locations such as caves, an old hospital, resident homes (some abandoned and others not), a deserted factory, labs, a foreboding forest, and a temple. Notably, prior leaks hinted at Resident Evil 9 utilizing the open-world technology from Dragon’s Dogma 2, and this setup appears to support those predictions.

It’s suggested that Blue Umbrella will reappear and aid both the DSO and BSAA in their ongoing investigation. Simultaneously, it’s alleged that Jill and Leon will contract the Mutamycete during their mission, leading them to frequently hear Eveline’s voice in their minds. The main villain of the game is rumored to be a man named Mr. Simon, who oversees the mass manufacture of Eveline’s duplicates.

Across the island, players will encounter upgraded versions of zombies capable of running and wielding weapons such as axes, knives, similar to the Gonados from Resident Evil 4. The island’s inhabitants, now infected by the Mold, worship the moon and display this devotion through moon tattoos on their arms, singing to it, and other rituals. Apart from zombies, Resident Evil 9 will also reintroduce stalker enemies for both Leon and Jill, with Jill being pursued by an adversary known as the Goat Man.

The article continues by asserting that two rounds of playtesting for ‘Resident Evil 9’ took place this year. In the first test held in April, Jill was seen investigating a deserted hospital, while the second test in September placed Leon within a forest.

This year, it was disclosed that Koshi Nakashimi, director of “Resident Evil 7”, will once again take charge for “Resident Evil 9”. While he didn’t reveal any specifics, he described the game as “substantial”. Previous rumors suggest that the game has been under development since at least 2018, boasting the longest production period and highest budget ever allocated for a “Resident Evil” game.
