Resident Evil 9 Zombie Gameplay Demo Released: “We’re So Screwed”

A recent gameplay clip from Resident Evil 9 (also known as Resident Evil Requiem) has been released, and the zombies in the game look particularly terrifying. They’ll be shambling toward players on February 27th.

It’s been a long time since the Resident Evil games featured classic zombies. We’ve seen plenty of enemies – villagers taken over by parasites and various other terrifying mutants – but the slow, decaying undead have been noticeably absent.

Resident Evil 9 Has Zombies

And they’re dying to take you to dinner

Fans recently discovered a new clip of Grace, the main character in Resident Evil Requiem, battling for survival. The footage comes from a special program that aired in Japan and offers a clear first look at a traditional zombie in action.

This zombie is genuinely frightening – it doesn’t even flinch when shot and can quickly cover a lot of ground to attack Grace. While the clip doesn’t show much blood, fans believe we’re watching the censored Japanese version of Resident Evil: Requiem, so the released version will likely be much more graphic.

Resident Evil Fans Are Terrified

And really, who among us can blame them?

Fans who have followed the series for a long time are really excited about this new zombie type, enjoying the return of classic undead creatures after a while. This is especially true considering recent reboots and remakes.

One fan commented that the game feels reminiscent of the Resident Evil 2 remake, which they love. They’re hoping for fast-moving zombies and encounters with Lickers, similar to that game.

Another adds: “Those zombies are still very rude. Nothing has changed since RE1.”

If you’re excited to fight zombies and show them who’s boss, be sure to check out Resident Evil Requiem when it’s released on February 27, 2026.
