Resident Evil Insider Shares New Release Info on 2027 Remake

A trusted source familiar with Capcom’s plans has revealed details about the next Resident Evil remake, expected to release in 2027. With the upcoming launch of Resident Evil Requiem just over a month away, fans are already excited. Now, we’re getting a glimpse of Capcom’s future plans for the Resident Evil series.

According to Nate the Hate, a reliable source of gaming leaks, Capcom is actively working on a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica. He claims the game is planned for release sometime in the first half of 2027. If this is accurate, it would be the first new Resident Evil remake since the Resident Evil 4 remake launched in 2023.

Code Veronica Is Primed for a Remake

The news that Capcom is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica is fantastic. As a story-driven game that fits between Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, it’s a crucial part of the series’ history. Compared to later installments like Resident Evil 5 and 6, Code Veronica really shows its age, making a remake essential. This announcement should excite both dedicated Resident Evil fans and new players who haven’t had the chance to experience it yet.

I’ve been hearing whispers that Capcom might be revisiting Resident Evil 0. It’s a prequel to the original Resident Evil, and honestly, it’s always been kind of middle-of-the-road when it comes to the series. But it does have some cool stuff going for it, so a remake could actually be really good! If the rumors are true and we get the Code Veronica remake in 2027, though, I’m guessing we won’t see a revamped RE0 until at least 2028.

The next main Resident Evil game, titled Resident Evil Requiem, will be released on February 27th. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
