Resident Evil Movie Plot Leak Reveals Which Games It Takes Place During

Recent spoilers disclose additional information about the impending Resident Evil film, shedding light on which video games in the series it might cover. The Resident Evil franchise is a highly acclaimed horror game series that has also been widely adapted into movies. However, the quality of these films has been inconsistent and they often fail to align closely with the source material. Despite this, the early films featuring Milla Jovovich were blockbuster hits and maintained interest in the IP within Hollywood. Although Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City attempted to be more faithful, it did not strike a chord with audiences.

In other news, Zach Cregger, director of “Barbarian” and “Weapons,” is set to direct the upcoming “Resident Evil” film. He has co-written the script with Shay Hatten for this project. While specific details about the movie are limited, it’s been hinted that it will stay true to the spirit of the games without directly adapting any of them. Cregger plans to tell a unique story set within the “Resident Evil” universe, but it remains undecided if this story will be recognized as canon. There are many questions surrounding the film’s objectives, but a recent leak provides some additional information.

Resident Evil Movie Plot Leak Suggests It Takes Place During Resident Evil 2 and 3

As a fervent admirer, I’m excitedly sharing the latest scoop on the upcoming “Resident Evil” series, as revealed by DanielRPK via Patreon. In this new installment, I find myself in the shoes of a courier who is assigned a crucial mission: transporting a parcel to Racoon City General Hospital. However, my journey takes an unexpected turn when I collide with a peculiar woman on the road. As fate would have it, I unwittingly stumble into a horrifying outbreak teeming with monsters that seem frighteningly reminiscent of the game’s iconic creatures. The suspense is palpable!

The story goes like this: “Bryan (Austin Abrams), an easygoing delivery guy for organs, is tasked with a late-night transport to Raccoon City General Hospital.” On his journey through a snowy mountain pass, he unintentionally collides with a peculiar woman. Miraculously, she lives, but there’s something unsettling about her condition. Trying to assist her, Bryan unwittingly steps into the heart of a terrifying outbreak marked by grotesque tentacle-like transformations and genetically modified monstrosities.

It appears that the Resident Evil movie takes place during the timeframe of both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Racoon City remains intact when Bryan receives his mysterious assignment, yet the ongoing “full-scale infection” indicates he arrives at the city during those two games’ simultaneous events. In these games, a massive outbreak occurs in Racoon City that culminates in a bomb being dropped on the city and the government hiding the event. If this is accurate, Bryan’s delivery might conclude with him attempting to escape the area before Racoon City meets its destruction.

In September, the latest installment of the Resident Evil series will be premiered in cinemas. This movie is coming out only a few months after the release of the ninth main game in the franchise called Resident Evil Requiem. Filming for this new film is expected to start soon. Meanwhile, Cregger’s next movie titled Weapons is scheduled for release on August 8th, so it’s likely that he’ll start production on his next project shortly following the release of Weapons.
