Resident Evil Requiem Datamined Tracks Could Hint at the Return of Mercenaries

Work is officially underway on the first story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem, and reports suggest it will center around Leon S. Kennedy. Before that expansion arrives, Capcom has announced a free mini-game, which many believe will be the popular Mercenaries Mode returning for fans to enjoy.

So, I’ve been checking out some music tracks a user named SYRKOV found hidden in the game files on Twitter. There are ten of them, and they’re not used anywhere right now, which makes me think they’re planned for a future update. A few of them are super high-energy, so I’m guessing they’ll be for a really intense game mode – maybe something where you have to keep a timer going by defeating enemies? Two of the tracks even have this ticking sound that really fits that idea!

Capcom hasn’t officially said if Mercenaries mode will be added to the game, despite a recent listing on GameStop. It’s possible these assets were originally planned for the base game but removed, though the mode has been included in both Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Considering how well-received the combat in Requiem was, adding Mercenaries here would make sense.

We’ll share more news soon! While you wait, you can read our review of the original game, which is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s been a hit, selling over six million copies so far.
