Resident Evil Requiem Dev Confirms Popular Fan Theory

I’m so hyped for Resident Evil Requiem! A developer has finally confirmed some of the fan theories we’ve all been discussing since the game was announced. Capcom initially only showed us the new character, Grace Ashcroft, but everyone was hoping to see some familiar faces return, especially Leon Kennedy. Well, good news! It sounds like we will be seeing characters from past Resident Evil games. They aren’t saying if Leon will be one of them just yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! It’s set to come out in early 2026, and I can’t wait.

Masato Kumazawa, the producer of Resident Evil Requiem, recently told Well Played that familiar faces from past games will make appearances. However, he cautioned fans not to assume these will be major roles. Grace will remain the central character in Requiem, even with these guest appearances.

Kumazawa confirmed that some characters from previous games will appear, but cautioned fans not to get their hopes too high. While they aren’t making any promises, he did say the game will feature characters who were present during the Raccoon City incident.

According to Kumazawa, the upcoming game Requiem might play out a lot like Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Both of those games focused on a new protagonist, Ethan Winters, but featured the returning character Chris Redfield as well. In Village, players even got to control Chris Redfield for a short time.

With the new movie, Resident Evil Requiem, potentially focusing on characters from Raccoon City, Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Claire Redfield seem like the most probable returning faces. They were heavily involved in the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, which took place there. However, other characters from spin-off games like Resident Evil Outbreak also appeared in the city. While we’re still speculating about who might return, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out for sure.

The new game, Resident Evil Requiem, is scheduled to launch on February 27th of next year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
