The PS5 Pro has had a mixed first year. While it’s shown moments of brilliance, it hasn’t consistently delivered impressive performance.
Resident Evil Requiem is setting a new standard for console performance. According to Digital Foundry, a team of tech experts, it significantly outperforms all other consoles. While this level of performance is expected given the console’s high price, it hasn’t consistently been the case in the past.
According to analyst John Linneman, Capcom didn’t just aim for a smooth 60fps experience with their new system – they actually exceeded expectations, delivering visuals that typically run at 30fps at a consistently high 60fps.
The game’s primary mode runs at a smooth 60 frames per second and features impressive ray tracing. It also uses a high-quality upscaling technique that makes the image appear almost as sharp as true 4K resolution.
The image quality is outstanding, delivering a nearly perfect 60 frames per second, even with ray tracing turned on. There are a few very small issues with reflections, but they’re barely noticeable.
The game also offers a 120fps mode, which is quite a feat. However, to achieve this, ray tracing is turned off and the advanced upscaling technology isn’t used, resulting in visuals similar to the standard PS5. Despite this, the game still runs smoothly enough with VRR turned on to be a good option.
Digital Foundry points out that the game’s incredibly high-quality visuals – from the characters to the textures – place it among the most beautiful games ever made.
Capcom’s artists have consistently delivered excellent work thanks to the RE Engine, and their latest creations are looking like their best yet.
The game runs great on the standard PS5 with excellent performance and graphics at 60fps. However, the PS5 Pro version takes things to the next level with improved upscaling and ray tracing, offering a significantly enhanced visual experience.
The PS5 Pro offers the absolute best experience for playing Resident Evil Requiem, but you’ll have a great time on any console. Capcom has done an amazing job optimizing the game for different systems, ensuring it looks and plays well on each one.
