It’s understandable why fans are so curious about whether Leon S. Kennedy will be playable in Resident Evil Requiem. The development team has had to address this question repeatedly, especially with the new character Grace Ashcroft taking center stage. They’ve asked fans not to jump to conclusions based on rumors, but the topic continues to generate a lot of excitement.
Despite any rumors, producer Masato Kumazawa suggests fans should interpret information as they see fit. However, he confirms that any leaked images circulating, particularly one showing Leon with an eyepatch, are fake.
When discussing the popular character’s appearance in the new game with Stevivor, Kumazawa explained that anything beyond Capcom’s official announcements is based on fans’ own investigations. He advised players not to assume everything they hear is necessarily true.
With AI now capable of creating realistic videos and photos, it’s becoming difficult to determine what’s genuine. People are free to believe what they want, but we want to be clear: unless Capcom officially releases something, we can’t confirm its authenticity. He specifically called the recent image of Leon and claims about a new costume “fake news.”
Just like when the team hinted Grace would be the central figure, Kumazawa didn’t dismiss the possibility of Leon playing a major role. They mentioned a future reveal and some important gameplay sections featuring Leon, so fans are still waiting for official confirmation – and, naturally, continuing to speculate.
The new game, Resident Evil Requiem, will be available on February 27, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It will cost $69.99, and those who pre-order will receive a Lady Dimitrescu outfit for the character Grace. While there aren’t any plans for a demo, Capcom promises the game won’t suffer from the performance issues some players experienced with Monster Hunter Wilds.
