Capcom is planning to release Resident Evil Requiem for the PS5 Pro with two graphics options: one prioritizing realistic visuals with ray tracing, and another focusing on a smooth 120 frames per second.
According to a recent interview with director Akifumi Nakanishi on the Japanese PlayStation Blog, the game’s frame rate will depend on whether ray tracing is enabled.
Resident Evil Requiem will offer stunning visuals with ray tracing enabled, running at 4K resolution and a smooth 60 frames per second. If you disable ray tracing, the game can achieve even faster performance, reaching up to 120 frames per second on compatible TVs or monitors. On average, players can expect around 90FPS without ray tracing.
Honestly, what really blew me away with the PS5 Pro was how smooth the gameplay was – the higher frame rate is a game changer. I kept wondering if I’d even notice the difference, but switching back to 60fps just feels…a little empty now. It’s like the extra details and speed make the game world feel so much more real and immersive.
The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller will enhance the experience with its unique features, including realistic vibrations (haptic feedback), varying trigger resistance, and immersive 3D audio. For example, each weapon will feel different to use thanks to the adjustable trigger weight, and you’ll even feel the impact of a zombie bite. It’s going to be a truly visceral experience!
The game brings puzzle-solving to life by simulating the sound and feel of jewels shifting inside a box. Controller vibrations and realistic sounds make the experience more immersive and believable.
The interview didn’t mention what graphics settings, if any, the standard PS5 will support.
We previewed Resident Evil Requiem on a PS5 Pro, and the three-hour session ran without any issues. Although the specific graphics settings weren’t revealed, the gameplay was smooth and the visuals looked great. We’re hoping this level of performance and quality carries over to the full game.
We previously noted that this game successfully combines exciting action with classic survival horror, making it one of the best horror experiences available. It also captures the familiar feel of Resident Evil with its story, characters, settings, and overall design, suggesting it could be a significant entry in the series.
