As a huge Resident Evil fan, I was so relieved to see a new update about *Resident Evil Requiem* (or *Resident Evil 9* as most of us are calling it)! We’ve been waiting for this game, and 2026 felt so far away. Honestly, I was starting to worry it might get pushed back, especially since they’ve only shown us two trailers so far. *Resident Evil Village* had five before launch, and with time ticking down, I wasn’t sure if they’d have enough time for a full marketing push. But this new update seems to confirm everything is still on track for the February 27, 2026 release, and that’s fantastic news!
Capcom announced on X (formerly Twitter) that pre-orders for *Resident Evil Requiem* will begin on October 29th. This suggests Capcom is very confident in the game’s release date. Generally, companies don’t start taking pre-orders if they suspect a delay. While delays *can* happen after pre-orders open, that usually occurs when pre-orders start too far in advance.
Pre-Order Incentives
Capcom hasn’t announced any pre-order bonuses yet, but it’s likely they’ll offer something to encourage fans to buy the game early. Along with the game’s release, they will be sharing a video celebrating the entire *Resident Evil* series. However, this video won’t feature any new gameplay from *Resident Evil Requiem*. If rumors are true, we might also learn about a PlayStation 4 version of the game when pre-orders open.
Trailer #3
We don’t know exactly when the next trailer will be released, but Capcom often shares new trailers and announcements at The Game Awards. Considering the show is happening close to the game’s release, it’s very likely we’ll see a new trailer for *Resident Evil Requiem* there on December 11th. It’s possible we’ll get trailers sooner, perhaps four or five before the game comes out, but there aren’t any major gaming events scheduled between now and The Game Awards, so any earlier release would likely be unexpected.
