Resident Evil Requiem’s Dual Perspectives are “Like Developing Two Separate Games,” Says Capcom

In the upcoming main installment of Capcom’s renowned survival horror series, titled “Resident Evil Requiem“, they are venturing into some new territories. Unlike past protagonists, Grace Ashcroft exhibits an ordinary, everyday persona, but what sets

Generally, Capcom’s remakes have been presented from a third-person viewpoint. Contrastingly, the main entries in the Resident Evil series, specifically Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil Village, were experienced in third-person. However, the third-person mode that was added to Resident Evil Village in the Winters’ Expansion wasn’t a precursor for Requiem as producer Masato Kumazawa explained to PlayStation Blog.

The addition of a third-person perspective in “Resident Evil Village” was primarily done due to fan demands, not as an initial experiment. The distinctions we’re dealing with impact not just the characters and movements, but also the intricately adjusted gameplay balance, user interface, and audio design – plus much more. In essence, it’s akin to creating two distinct video games simultaneously.

On February 27th, 2026, the game titled “Resident Evil Requiem” is set to debut, accessible on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. In just under three weeks following its unveiling, it amassed over one million wishlists across all digital marketplaces. Additionally, attendees of Gamescom in August will have the opportunity to play this game.
