Final bosses in the Resident Evil series often take the form of large, monstrous creatures covered in pus. Resident Evil: Requiem continued this tradition, but a YouTuber recently found an unused boss model that’s a bit more similar to the character’s original, human-like design. Be warned: spoilers for Requiem follow.
Japanese YouTuber umedajapan recently shared details about two early versions of the character Victor Gideon that didn’t make it into the final game. One version is fairly typical, showing Victor with a single, fleshy wing growing from his right shoulder. It’s not particularly remarkable, as the final game already features a similar transformation – Victor gains a large, tentacle-like arm after losing his original left arm.
Resident Evil Requiem‘s Victor Gideon Used to Be a Little Snakelike
Breaking news: We’ve discovered data related to Victor Gideon’s demise.
Our analysis team found his death mesh data (without textures).
The data for his injured, one-winged form is located in a folder labeled with his name (see image 1).
The monstrous form appears to be his final transformation – it’s a composite beast, including snake-like features (see image 2).

The second model is far more interesting. This early version, which appears to be nearly complete, has a clearer shape than what ended up in the final game. It even features snake-like mouths, along with several human-like heads and arms.
Many players predicted Victor would eventually transform into a more reptilian creature, and recent developments strongly suggest that’s where his story is headed. His coat appears to be made of snakeskin, and he wears multiple snake-themed accessories: a ring with a snake’s eye, a metallic snake ring, and a snake-shaped belt buckle. Even his tongue, glimpsed briefly, is forked. These details all hint at a final form that will be significantly more reptilian in nature.
Those early clues turned out to be misleading. The final form of the character Victor in the released version of Requiem is surprisingly similar to the final boss from the Resident Evil 3 remake. This is because Victor is infected with a parasite called Nemesis-γ, which is related to the parasite that created the iconic Nemesis enemy in RE3. Essentially, similar parasites lead to similar final forms. In this mutated state, Victor barely resembles a human, even more so than an earlier, unused version of the character which had multiple heads and arms. It’s a mystery why Capcom moved away from all the hints they’d laid out and chose something more familiar, and how long they had been planning this change.
Okay, so Leon finally took down Victor in the game, but honestly, I’m not sure if Capcom will do anything more with that character. It seems like, just like with most recent Resident Evil games, they’re planning an expansion for Requiem down the line. They haven’t said what it’ll be about yet, but I’m hearing whispers that it might bring back some familiar faces from older games. I’m really hoping Victor gets a second look, because leaving him as just a defeated boss at the bottom of that ARK feels kinda…unfinished.
