Yesterday’s Resident Evil Requiem gameplay trailer was visually stunning with smooth transitions, but what we’ve seen so far is only a taste of what’s to come.
At the Gamescom event today, Capcom unveiled an opportunity for testing their upcoming title, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (Resident Evil Requiem). Developers graciously permitted recording of footage, offering a sneak peek into the game’s terrifying stalker character, colloquially known as the ‘mama monster’.
Sure thing! “Alright, it turns out that’s not her true name, but since Capcom hasn’t announced one yet, we’ll stick with calling her that for now.
Resident Evil Requiem’s Stalker Is the Scariest We’ve Seen
In previous Resident Evil games, we’ve encountered Nemesis, Tyrant, and other terrifying pursuers that instill panic and fear when they come close. But in Resident Evil: Requiem, a new kind of terrifying creature emerges! If you don’t believe me, take a look at this brief clip featuring the formidable mama monster stalking Grace Ashcroft.
Isn’t that intriguing? While there are still many unknown aspects regarding Resident Evil Requiem, some details have emerged. From gameplay previews, we can see that a new type of stalker enemy has been introduced. Not only can it pursue you, but it also has the ability to traverse ceilings, which adds to the unpredictability and keeps you guessing from where it may appear next.
Grace can utilize glass containers and noise to divert the stalker’s focus away from her, but using a lighter discovered earlier to illuminate her path may attract unwanted attention. Since the ‘mama monster’ is sensitive to light, well-lit environments will serve as safe havens for Grace to rest comfortably.
As Capcom gradually reveals details about Resident Evil Requiem, there are many questions that remain unaddressed. With a release date set for February 27, 2026, we can expect further updates on the game before the end of this year.
There’s talk about Leon appearing as suggested by the rumors, but it’s uncertain if this will happen since Capcom is working hard to debunk that speculation.
The upcoming Resident Evil game, titled Requiem, marks its place as the ninth main installment in the series. It’s scheduled to be launched on February 27, 2026, and will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
