Do you miss the PS1 era of survival horror games?
We love recent games like the Resident Evil 2 remake and Silent Hill F, but sometimes we miss the old-school feel of 90s games with their fixed camera angles.
New Zealand-based game studio Unclear Games aims to capture a disturbing atmosphere with their upcoming PlayStation 5 horror game, The Florist, scheduled for release in 2026.

In “The Florist,” Jessica Park arrives in the town of Joycliffe with a delivery, but her timing couldn’t be worse. The town is quickly overtaken by rapidly growing, dangerous plants, turning it into a fight for survival. Players will need to solve clever puzzles, battle terrifying creatures, and discover the dark secret behind this unnatural, life-creating plan.
This game doesn’t aim to look like an old PlayStation 1 game with blocky graphics. Instead, it combines the classic, static camera angles of those games with modern, high-quality visuals.
The game’s title screen uses a bright, unsettling visual style, which is a departure from the dark and gloomy feel common in most survival horror games.
The blurb continues:
The Florist offers a distinctive and beautiful experience for players worldwide. Forget the typical abandoned town – Joycliffe is dangerous in a vibrant, unsettling way. The game uses color and light in a completely new style to build tension and create a creepy atmosphere. Each meticulously crafted level is designed to be both visually stunning and fun to play, with a focus on detail and fixed camera angles.
There are a lot of survival horror games out there, but this one stands out from the crowd.
Is this something you’d be willing to try?
If the game is easy and enjoyable to control – and the announcement highlights how accessible it is – it has the potential to become surprisingly popular.
