Even though Return to Paradise is still airing its second season, with Death in Paradise having run for so long and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, already starting its fourth season, people are beginning to wonder what’s next for the series.
Will the Australian show return for additional episodes and seasons? The stars – Anna Samson, Tai Hara, and Lloyd Griffith – certainly hope so, and it sounds like they’re working towards that goal.
“Yeah, they do don’t they? Those lucky buggers,” she responded.
Samson explained that when they aren’t filming, Peter Mattessi, the show’s creator and head writer, sent him a message about the show, but then quickly apologized, saying he realized Samson was probably enjoying his time off and not thinking about work.
I often find myself thinking about Mackenzie Clarke and the show. She’s a character I really care about, and I’m not quite finished with her story yet. I’m eager to see how viewers react, and I’d love to do a special – maybe a Christmas episode set during a hot Australian summer!

He found it completely crazy. As someone who loves tradition, he believes Christmas should be about snow, carols, and the early darkness of the season. He just couldn’t understand people celebrating by going to the beach, having barbecues, and eating prawns instead of a traditional turkey dinner. He thought it was a good story for Colin, though.
He really loves Australia, but he still struggles with the idea of celebrating Christmas there. He’s got a lot of friends who live there now, and they tell him about their Christmas traditions, which he finds completely bizarre.
“In the morning, we do prezzies and then we go to the beach,” Hara chimed in.
Griffith repeatedly emphasized his desire to create a Christmas special, followed by continuing the show with seasons 3, 4, and beyond, stating, ‘I’m serious about this plan.’
Hara mentioned they’d all be thrilled to create a Christmas episode. She also highlighted how exciting it was that they received a Logie nomination at the end of season 2, and that season 1 had won Best Drama.
The end of season 2 was incredibly exciting, and I know everyone involved would be delighted to return for more episodes.
Hara hinted that the second season will end with a cliffhanger, leaving viewers eager to find out what happens next.
Season 2 of Return to Paradise starts Friday, November 14th at 8pm on BBC One and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
