RHOSLC Pauses Production After Death of Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Jr.

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is taking a beat.

Filming for the seventh season of the show has been paused after the unexpected passing of Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., TopMob News reports.

I’m so excited! Mary and the rest of the ladies – Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Angie Katsanevas, and Bronwyn Newport – are starting to film again this week. I can’t wait to see what happens!

The announcement of the new series follows shortly after Mary and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., shared the sad news of their son Robert Jr.’s passing at age 23, stating he was “finally at peace.”

Robert Jr., our cherished son, has passed away, his parents announced on Instagram on February 25th. While deeply saddened, they find solace in their faith and the belief that he is now at peace. They appreciate everyone’s prayers and are relying on God to help them through this difficult time.

Police in Salt Lake City confirmed to TopMob News that Robert Jr. was found deceased after officers investigated a potential drug overdose. The medical examiner is still working to determine how he died.

Bravo offered condolences to Mary and Robert Sr., following the news of Robert Jr.’s death

We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Robert Jr., Mary’s son. Mary is like family to us, and we send our love and heartfelt sympathy to her and everyone who knew and loved him during this very painful time.

Andy Cohen also expressed his sympathy to Mary and Robert. Sr.

The executive producer publicly shared their support for Mary, saying, “I love you, Mary. You gave it your all, and we’re all sending our best wishes to your family.”

Other Real Housewives offered condolences as well. Kyle Richards wrote a message saying she was deeply sorry for Mary’s devastating loss, and that she was thinking of and praying for her. She offered support and sent her love.

Mary’s fellow cast member, Bronwyn, offered her support, saying, “I love you and your family and I’m here for you.” Meanwhile, Meredith’s son, Brooks Marks, wrote a message saying, “Sending you so much love. Your strength is amazing.”

The show documented Robert Jr.’s history with substance use, including a particularly vulnerable moment in season five where he opened up to his mother about his struggles. During that conversation, Mary promised to support him in getting the help he needed.

Following the broadcast of their emotional exchange, Mary shared why she felt it was important to reveal such a private moment to the public.

I was so touched listening to her on Watch What Happens Live in December 2024. She explained that it all just happened naturally with Robert – they hadn’t planned anything beforehand. She said they just knew they wanted to help someone, and neither of them had a script or anything prepared. It was so genuine and moving, she was even tearing up as she talked about it!

As for her son’s progress following the conversation, the Bravo star offered an optimistic outlook.

I’m incredibly proud of him. He went to rehab, spent a month there, and successfully completed the program. He really did a fantastic job, and he’s like a completely different person now.

Oh my gosh, it just breaks my heart thinking about Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Jr. He was so young – only 23 when he passed away in February 2026. I remember seeing this incredibly sweet post on Mary’s Instagram back in September 2023, a beautiful moment between her and Robert Jr. It was right when everyone found out he was battling addiction, and she was so strong sharing that glimpse of their life with us. It’s just… devastating.

Just weeks before news of Robert Jr.’s death surprised viewers of RHOSLC, his mother shared a heartfelt tribute to him on Instagram. Posted on February 7, 2026, it read, “#godfirst Love you all My Beautiful Son.. I love him sm.”

On season six of the Bravo show, Robert Jr. revealed he was having difficulty remaining sober following a legal issue. This honest admission deeply moved the preacher, bringing him to tears during the 2026 reunion.

Mary posted a tribute to her “beautiful son” in April 2024.

In a 2024 incident, Mary challenged Robert Jr. about a rumor that he was already married. What did he say?
