Rick And Morty Season 8 Has Been Great, But I’ll Be More Than A Little Disappointed If One Character Doesn’t Return In The Season Finale

It seems as though the eighth season of “Rick and Morty” on television in 2025 has just begun, but it’s already nearing its end with the upcoming episode. The season so far has been consistently entertaining, and I’ve enjoyed these fresh, absurd journeys. However, I must confess that I’m eagerly anticipating the season finale to wrap things up satisfactorily, as I hope a certain character will be present, or else I might be left feeling quite let down.

In Season 8, we’ve experienced significant payoffs, as expected from a series rich with unforgettable supporting characters. However, one particular character I’ve been eager to see again is conspicuously absent, mainly because he makes an appearance in the opening credits every episode.

I Will Be Bummed If Mr. Nimbus Doesn’t Return In The Season 8 Finale

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the introduction of Mr. Nimbus as Rick’s longtime adversary in Season 5 of Rick and Morty. Ever since then, I’ve been eagerly awaiting his return to play a more significant role in the storyline. It seems strange that someone who “wields control over the police” wouldn’t keep a close eye on their arch-nemesis, but the Season 8 intro offers some intriguing insights into why they may not be at odds anymore these days. This has sparked lots of speculation among fans about a potential romantic entanglement between them. If that’s indeed the direction the story is heading in, I can’t wait to see where this unexpected romance takes us!

Rick And Morty’s Season 8 Intro Has Featured Lots Of Scenes That Did Appear In Episodes

As an avid viewer of “Rick and Morty”, I must confess that I’ve been reminded by my fellow enthusiasts not to jump to conclusions based on scenes from the introduction that seem to hint at storyline events, as there’s a rich history of such instances having no bearing on the overall narrative. However, it’s interesting to note that the Season 8 intro includes five different clips, and two of these have already appeared in Season 8 itself.

If the final episode of the series features Mr. Nimbus unwinding with Rick in an underwater bedroom, I’ll be overjoyed. Much more so than if the sequence involving the family transforming into Tetrominos or Beth and Space Beth engaging in a wrestling match as giant thumbs becomes pivotal. The former suggests that a longer narrative might emerge in a season predominantly focused on standalone episodes, while the latter hints at more of the unpredictable humor characteristic of Rick and Morty.

As a devoted cinephile, I must confess that this season of “Rick and Morty” hasn’t boasted any episodes that would make it onto my personal hall of fame. However, I wholeheartedly believe this has been the most robust season for the Adult Swim series in recent history, maybe even since its inception. So far, there hasn’t been a single episode that I could categorically label as bad, and they’ve even managed to make a clever, timely reference with James Gunn and Zack Snyder that tapped into the ongoing hype surrounding “Superman” in cinemas. If they manage to include Mr. Nimbus in the season finale, I’ll consider myself fully content.

Don’t miss out on watching the Season 8 finale of “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim this Sunday, July 27th at 11:00 p.m. ET. I must admit, I’m not quite sure what to anticipate from this final episode considering how unpredictable this season has been, but I’m still looking forward to it!
