Rick and Morty Season 9 Drops First Trailer Ahead of Adult Swim Premiere

I’m excited to see that Rick and Morty is coming back to Adult Swim this Spring! They just released the first trailer for Season 9, and it looks great. After a slight hiccup with Season 8, it seems like we’re back to getting a new season each year, which is fantastic news. And with Adult Swim already renewing the show through Season 12, we know there are a lot more wild adventures coming our way in the future. I just got a first glimpse of what’s in store, and I can’t wait!

The ninth season of Rick and Morty premieres on Adult Swim this May. The network has been sharing glimpses of what’s to come, and now they’ve released the full trailer. It shows off the season’s wild new storylines and seems to confirm a shift in the show’s overall tone.

When Does Rick and Morty Season 9 Come Out?

The ninth season of Rick and Morty premieres on Adult Swim on Sunday, May 24th at 11:00pm Eastern and Pacific time, and will be available in 170 countries and 42 languages. After the initial release, new episodes will be available to buy digitally in the US. The entire season will then be available to stream starting August 31st. While the streaming platforms haven’t been announced yet, you can currently watch the first eight seasons on Hulu and HBO Max.

It’s difficult to predict how the new trailer will be received, and the synopsis Adult Swim released for Rick and Morty Season 9 is equally unusual. It promises a season full of great episodes, made by humans (and even jokingly references their imperfections!). The season appears to be continuing the trend of focusing on self-contained episodes, similar to Season 8.

What’s Going on With Rick and Morty Season 9?

The first seven seasons of Rick and Morty built a complex, long-term storyline that eventually came to fruition. However, Season 8 felt like a return to the show’s earlier, self-contained adventures, which many fans preferred. With five more seasons planned, this shift in focus is probably a good thing for the show’s future. Some viewers might be disappointed to see less of the overarching plot and character development hints, though.

With Rick and Morty leaning into more self-contained, unusual stories, the show promises to be even more entertaining, which is great for keeping viewers engaged. Adding to the excitement is a new spin-off called President Curtis, bringing back Keith David as the President for his own adventures. While we don’t know when it will be released yet, it’s definitely something to look forward to.
