Jane Fallon has news about her health.
The popular author, who has been with comedian Ricky Gervais for many years, recently revealed she has breast cancer. Fortunately, it was detected early, and doctors are optimistic about her recovery.
Jane shared on Instagram that she had a routine mammogram just before Christmas. She hadn’t noticed any problems herself, but the radiographer found something concerning and recommended further testing, ultimately leading to a biopsy.
The 65-year-old woman said she’s had additional tests – including more mammograms, biopsies, and an MRI – to help doctors find the exact location of the issue.
“Things have been really tough lately,” the TV producer admitted. “But I have surgery scheduled for the week after next, and I’m just ready to get it done and move forward.”
Jane reassured her fans that she was getting excellent medical attention and expected a full recovery. She did mention, though, that she was currently focusing on relaxing activities like listening to audiobooks and doing jigsaw puzzles, and wasn’t up for much else.
She playfully mentioned her cat, Pickle, pretending Pickle was a nurse asking when it was time to eat.
Although Ricky hasn’t commented publicly on Jane’s health, the couple – who have been together since 1982, after meeting at University College London – have always been open about their relationship, even sharing why they decided not to marry after more than forty years together.

“Don’t see the point,” Ricky told The Times in 2010. “We are married for all intents and purposes.”
He went on to say, “It’s funny, because we’ve been pretending to be married for longer than many actual marriages last.”
And as Jane explained it, neither she nor Ricky were really “fussed” about walking down the aisle.
I’ve always felt that if either of them truly wanted to reconnect, they would have. As she explained to the Daily Mail back in 2018, it just hasn’t felt necessary for either of them – it’s never been a real need.
