The BBC hasn’t said what’s next for ‘Riot Women,’ the popular new drama about a group of women navigating menopause while starting a punk band. However, the show seems likely to continue, as the season finale left plenty of possibilities open.
Kitty was finally able to perform with her band at the Hebden Bridge festival after a criminal damage case against her was dropped, narrowly avoiding another prison sentence. The performance was a huge success, and for the first time in a long time, Kitty felt like her life was stable and going well.
But just after she stepped off stage, she received a call from her dad.
After investigating, he discovered the identities of the three men who assaulted her when she was twelve years old, leading to her pregnancy with Tom.
One person had died, but two survived. Kitty’s father revealed that one of the survivors was an undercover police officer who had joined the gang, eventually rising to the rank of detective chief superintendent before retiring.
“I’ve got an address. What you gonna do to then, love?” he asked her. “Have you decided?”
Earlier, Kitty told Holly she was considering handling the situation herself instead of involving the police. She said, “I might want to deal with it myself.”
Will she give in to her anger and destroy everything she’s built? Or will she prioritize her own happiness and the well-being of those she loves – her son Tom, Beth, and the other women in her group?
Sadly, tradition dictates that she’ll probably do the former…
Craig explained that the character has been repeatedly deceived and mistreated, but she always finds a way to bounce back, in her own distinctive style. That’s how we first meet her in the series – she’s venting her frustrations by destroying cars and getting revenge, in a way that’s uniquely her.
After slowly starting to find her voice again and put her life back together, she might just surprise everyone.
She always manages to find solutions, though they often come about in surprisingly unconventional ways, she noted.
Craig explained that drama often highlights opportunities for fresh starts, whether it’s about turning your life around, seeking forgiveness, or simply revealing your true self. He emphasized that ‘you always have another chance, and another after that – you can rebuild your life and begin anew.’
We’re all rooting for you, Kitty.
