Emily Atack, who rose to fame on the show “Rivals,” has chosen to welcome the opportunity associated with being typecast.
The actress, famously known for her breakthrough performance in “The Inbetweeners,” more recently portrayed Sarah Stratton in “Rivals.” This intricate female character, among others, has significantly contributed to the show’s success.
Reflecting on her approach to the role during a discussion at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Atack stated, “Throughout my career, I’ve often found myself being cast in certain roles that people label as ‘typecasting.’
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it, and I’d be delighted to continue portraying these intriguing female characters as long as they allow me.
She added: “Women like Sarah Stratton, they’ve never been written as nuanced.

Throughout history, there have been particular kinds of women who are often judged negatively, such as those labeled ‘homewreckers.’ Many individuals might hesitate to acknowledge that they relate to characters like Sarah. However, I didn’t shy away from identifying with her.
Additionally at the panel, it came to light that Rupert Everett and Hayley Atwell are set to become part of the cast for season 2.
In the upcoming season, Atwell will portray Helen Gordon, who is Rupert’s ex-wife and mother of his daughters, while Everett has been cast as Malise Gordon, her new spouse and a former trainer of Rupert in equestrian sports. This casting news was met with much enthusiasm. The second season is currently being filmed, with Atack reporting that they are nearly halfway through production.
