After over twenty years on the air, the Scottish soap opera River City will conclude in Autumn 2026. To celebrate its history, a special documentary titled River City: Our Story will be released.
This special documentary looks back at some of the most memorable moments from the show’s 24-year history. Current cast members, including the Murdoch and O’Hara families, will revisit classic scenes and share their memories of filming the series.

Viewers will get a special look behind the scenes as the cast and crew film the last episodes of the show this April. As a way of showing appreciation for their long-time support, fans will soon be able to participate in a special project connected to the show. The celebratory documentary will include stories from the public, with River City’s biggest fans sharing how the show has touched their lives and recalling their most cherished moments.

The documentary will be directed by Tony Kearney, a familiar face from River City and now Executive Producer at Solus Productions. Kearney, who was one of the original cast members – playing Scott Wallace for almost ten years after the show began in September 2002 – shared his excitement: “It feels special to have been involved in the very first scene of River City and now have the chance to watch the final scene being filmed.”
As a long-time River City fan, I was so excited to hear that Solus Productions is making a special celebration of Shieldinch for the show’s finale! Gavin Smith from BBC Scotland said it’s going to be a wonderful trip down memory lane on Montego Street, packed with classic clips and stories – honestly, I can’t wait to see it!
