Rob Reiner’s Son Arrested in Deaths of Director & Michele Reiner

More information is coming to light following Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s deaths.

Police have arrested the couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, in connection with their deaths, NBC News reports. Reiner co-wrote the movie Being Charlie, which his father directed, and is currently being held on $4 million bail. Jail records reviewed by TopMob News don’t specify what he’s been charged with.

On December 14th, police responded to a call at the home of Rob and Michele Reiner, where they discovered two people with stab wounds. The victims were identified as 78-year-old director Rob Reiner and his 68-year-old wife. Rob Reiner’s children include Nick, Jake, and Romy. He also has a daughter, Tracy Reiner, whose mother was the late director Penny Marshall.

TopMob News has contacted the Reiner family and local law enforcement for a statement, but has not yet received a response.

After police identified the deaths as a possible murder, the families of Rob and Michele confirmed they were the victims. In a statement, they expressed their deep sadness and requested privacy as they cope with this tragic loss.

It’s a sentiment echoed by Tracy.

The 61-year-old told NBC News she came from a wonderful family and had just seen her father the day before. She said she was speechless and in shock.

Nick has openly discussed his long battle with addiction, revealing he’s been to rehab 17 times since the age of 15, as he shared with People magazine.

When he refused to go back to rehab, he was ultimately left homeless.

Nick explained in 2016 that if he didn’t follow the recommended treatment programs and instead chose his own path, he would have to live on the streets.

Nick explained that difficult experiences shaped him into the person he is today. He’s been back in Los Angeles with his family for a while now and has adjusted to being home, but he went through a long and challenging period before that.

He transformed a difficult time in his life into the book Being Charlie, which was inspired by his personal challenges.

“It’s not my life,” Nick said, “I went to a lot of these places, so I had a lot of these stories.”

Rob directed a variety of well-known films, including Being Charlie, as well as classics like When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and Stand By Me.
