It’s impossible to put into words how much pain we’re in right now. Losing our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, has been absolutely devastating – something no one should ever go through. They weren’t just Mom and Dad, they were truly our best friends, and we miss them terribly.

We deeply appreciate the heartfelt condolences, kindness, and support we’ve received from so many people, including family, friends, and those we don’t even know. At this difficult time, we ask for privacy and respect. We hope that any discussion about our parents is handled with compassion and understanding, and that they are remembered for their wonderful lives and the love they shared.

Long before Rob and Michele Singer Reiner sadly passed away, their son, Nick Reiner, had spoken openly about his own struggles with addiction. He even worked with his father on the 2015 film Being Charlie, which focused on the topic of substance abuse.

I remember reading an interview with him in People magazine back in 2016, and his story really stuck with me. He shared that he’d experienced homelessness in multiple states – Maine, New Jersey, and Texas, if I recall correctly. He described actually living on the streets, sometimes for weeks at a time, and he was very clear – it was a really tough experience, definitely not something anyone would enjoy.
Two years later, Nick recalled an instance when he “wrecked” his home while high on drugs.
In a 2018 interview on the Dopey podcast, he described a period where he was heavily using stimulants—likely cocaine and another drug—and stayed awake for days. He said this led to him damaging things in his guest house, explaining that he ‘went 10 rounds’ and started punching objects.

I heard from the authorities that before anyone can be taken to court, they need to get a clean bill of health from the medical staff. They’re hoping to get this particular inmate cleared tomorrow, so they can bring him in then. It’s just standard procedure, thankfully, to make sure everyone’s safe.

On December 16th, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman stated that his office will be filing formal charges against Nick for two counts of first-degree murder, with the added specification that the murders were multiple.
