Although there’s much anticipation for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, there’s also considerable apprehension surrounding its production. After all, Marvel’s Multiverse Saga hasn’t quite managed to maintain the same level of excellence and storyline harmony as the Infinity Saga did in becoming a cultural touchstone. As spectators ponder whether Doomsday will be able to give proper attention to its ever-growing cast (currently at 27 actors), there have been whispers of production turmoil. Just this month, rumors swirled about discord on the Doomsday set, with allegations of large egos causing issues and Robert Downey Jr. requesting extended reshoots. Additionally, there’s been conjecture regarding Downey and Ryan Reynolds having a falling out, but recent news has shed light on their relationship.
Based on reports by People magazine, there appears to be no tension or hard feelings between Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds, as sources claim they’ve never even met each other in person. The idea of a feud between these two actors may have originated from assumptions about an incident involving a joke that allegedly went too far on the set of “Doomsday,” which some believe caused disputes among cast members. With limited information, fans speculated that the individuals involved could have been Downey and Reynolds.
Will Ryan Reynolds Return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday?

Whether or not Ryan Reynolds will appear as Deadpool in the upcoming Avengers film is still uncertain. Recently, there were rumors that he would reappear in Doomsday, but it’s been clarified that Deadpool won’t be part of the official Avengers squad. However, Marvel Studios hasn’t yet confirmed Reynolds’ participation. The only Deadpool & Wolverine cast member announced during the live stream for the record-breaking Doomsday cast reveal earlier this year was Channing Tatum as Gambit.
If Reynolds comes back for Doomsday, it’s not certain that he would interact with Downey on the film set due to its intricate production process and scheduling challenges. Alan Cumming, who will reprise his X-Men role as Nightcrawler, shared that he filmed the entire movie in isolation without knowing which characters he’d be acting alongside. As a result, it is possible that Reynolds and Downey may have shot their scenes separately at different times, meaning they might not share much screen time together given the large ensemble cast of Doomsday.
Given that Reynolds is known for his off-the-cuff humor in movies like “Deadpool & Wolverine,” it’s not surprising fans suspected he might be the source of an overly humorous situation. His improvisational comedy style often involves adding jokes even when the script doesn’t call for them, as demonstrated by the joke about Hugh Jackman’s divorce in that film. While Jackman took the joke in good humor, it’s possible Reynolds could have made a jab that was too personal for another actor. Luckily, it seems Reynolds and Downey are on friendly terms.
It’s intriguing to consider whether Reynolds and Downey will share scenes in the film Doomsday. If only Deadpool could run into Iron Man, fans would have delighted in witnessing their verbal exchanges and the amusing competition as they traded witty remarks. While Deadpool vs. Doom might not be as impactful (the exact portrayal of Downey’s powerful villain is yet to be seen), it would nonetheless be thrilling to see two of the most prominent comic book movie stars together on screen.
