Robert Irwin Reveals What’s Next After Winning Dancing With the Stars

Robert Irwin went from down under straight to the top.

He’s really enjoying the experience! The wildlife conservationist won the Mirrorball trophy on season 34 of Dancing With the Stars with professional dancer Witney Carson on November 25th.

So, what’s next after his big win?

Robert recently told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi that he’s been traveling quite a bit, first heading to New York and then immediately flying to South Africa to film a new show. He’s now back home after his trip.

I’m so excited to hear that Witney will be joining him in Australia! He just announced it, and Witney playfully added that I won’t be able to get rid of her that easily – which is fantastic news for all of us fans! It means even more fun and energy, and I can’t wait to see them together down under.

It’s been an incredible experience for Robert and Witney. Robert shared that working together allowed him to create a meaningful impact by sharing stories filled with positivity, honesty, enthusiasm, and joy.

He’d been looking forward to joining the dance competition for a long time. He even shared an old clip from 2015, during his sister Bindi Irwin’s winning season with Derek Hough, showing how eager he was to compete.

The then-11-year-old gushed at the time, “Definitely, I would love to. That would be so much fun.”

Despite all the fun, the competition involved a lot of demanding dance practice, particularly as the finale approached. In a TikTok post on November 24th, Witney shared that both she and Robert were feeling physically exhausted. She later revealed that Robert was experiencing significant rib pain while they were choreographing their final dances.

Still, they persevered through that last show.

Robert always keeps his family close during his performances, and his sister Bindi even joined him as his dance partner for the show’s 20th anniversary on November 11th. Their dance to Leona Lewis’s “Footprints in the Sand” was inspired by a previous routine Bindi performed in memory of their father, Steve Irwin.

Robert shared on Instagram that performing on the show felt incredibly healing. He described the dance as emotional, beautiful, and deeply meaningful, explaining that he honors his father’s memory in everything he does and felt honored to dedicate their foxtrot to him.

He also expressed his gratitude to Witney, praising her for beautifully choreographing their dance and for giving him a safe space to express feelings he’d never shared before.

No matter where Robert is—whether he’s dancing or exploring the wilderness—he feels connected to his father.

He finished by saying he was proud to continue his father’s work as a Wildlife Warrior, and he felt lucky to be able to do so while competing on the dance floor.

Robert Irwin made this season a family celebration. He honored his dad with the 20th anniversary dance, and also dedicated a special night to their mom, Terri Irwin.

He shared on Instagram on October 15th that he’d never forget this night. He described the dance as a heartfelt expression of love, loss, and thankfulness, explaining it was a tribute to his mother and all strong mothers and single parents everywhere.

He shared that he felt his father’s presence and was sure he’d be incredibly proud of his mother. He dedicated the dance to everyone involved and expressed his gratitude for their support.
