Robert Irwin is sharing a difficult life update.
While appearing on *Dancing With the Stars*, the Australian wildlife photographer shared that his pug, Stella, is currently facing a health issue.
Robert shared some sad news on Instagram on October 12th, posting photos of his dog, Stella. He explained that vets found a cancerous mass and are still determining how serious it is. Despite the difficult news, Robert remains hopeful for Stella’s recovery.
Robert highlighted how much his daughter Stella means to their family, which also includes his mother, Terri Irwin, and sister, Bindi Irwin. He described her as a very important member of the family.
It’s been really tough being away from home and especially difficult watching her go through this,” Robert shared. “I know everyone loves her and I enjoy sharing updates, so I wanted to let you know she’s recovering well after surgery. She’s my best friend and is incredibly strong.
Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin and Teri Irwin, is currently competing on *Dancing With the Stars* with professional dancer Witney Carson. Meanwhile, his family has been sharing updates about their pug, Stella Irwin, through Stella’s own Instagram account.
The Irwins shared an adorable update on Stella’s recovery, posting a picture of the dog enjoying the sunshine on October 11th with the playful caption, “I’m solar powered!”
As Robert’s popularity has grown, his family has playfully teased him about becoming a celebrity, even through his dog Stella’s social media account. For example, in a selfie posted on April 5th of Robert and Stella, the family jokingly wrote from Stella’s point of view, “Stay away, he’s mine!”
Robert has also publicly expressed his love for Stella. In a post from August 4th, the wildlife conservationist playfully held up their puppy, referencing *The Lion King*, and wrote, “Everything the light touches is her kingdom.”
