Timothée Chalamet is back in the barren desert of Arrakis.
This time, Robert Pattinson is going up against Timothée Chalamet in Dune: Part Three. Pattinson debuted a striking new look in the film’s trailer on March 17th, playing Scytale, a threatening character who can change his appearance and sports pale blonde hair. Beyond his intimidating appearance, Scytale is a key figure in a conspiracy group called the Dune Messiah, working to undermine Paul Atreides.
Besides briefly mentioning his latest opponent, the actor known for playing Marty Supreme shared that working on the Denis Villeneuve-directed Dune series, which is based on Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, has been a fantastic experience.
Timothée announced the trailer for Dune: Part Three in a video message to fans on March 16, as reported by People. He explained that the film is the result of over 150 days of production across three movies, a process that began in the mid-2010s and officially started in 2018. He also emphasized the crucial role of director Denis Villeneuve, calling him a master of cinema and a great artist without whom the film wouldn’t have been possible.
The 30-year-old praised Denis’ work on the film, calling it a “true act of cinema.” The movie will be released on December 18th.
The surprises didn’t stop there. Although Timothée Chalamet couldn’t be at the event in person, director Denis Villeneuve appeared with fellow cast members Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Anya-Taylor Joy. Villeneuve gave fans a preview of the upcoming Dune: Part Three, explaining that it takes place 17 years after the events of Dune 2, where Timothée’s character sought revenge for the death of his father, King Leto, played by Oscar Isaac.
Denis described the story as a powerful and intense one, focusing on Paul’s struggle with the negative effects of his own power and his attempts to break free from a pattern of violence.
He explained that this film is quite different from the previous installments. While revisiting those worlds is a good idea, it’s driven by a sense of immediate need, not just looking back fondly. He described the first movie as thoughtful and exploratory, the second as a war film, and this one as a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller with a lot more action.

As the director promised, the trailer features Paul questioning his mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), about whether he’ll survive his dangerous mission to eliminate his enemies. Towards the end of the trailer, Paul confidently states, “I’m not afraid to die, but I must not die yet,” and we see he’s had his head shaved as preparation for battle.
Even though the next film is expected to be very intense, director Denis Villeneuve promised it will still focus on the complex romance between Paul, played by Timothée Chalamet, and Chani, played by Zendaya. He described it simply as “still a love story.”
While fans anticipate the final installment of the Dune trilogy, here are some other movies coming out this year…

This exciting thriller centers around a mysterious jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) who partners with an insurance broker for a final, ambitious robbery. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Monica Barbaro, and Barry Keoghan.

I’m so excited about Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new film! It’s a fresh take on the Bride of Frankenstein story, and it looks incredible. Christian Bale plays a solitary Frankenstein who goes to 1930s Chicago hoping a brilliant scientist will build him a companion – Jessie Buckley is playing that role, which I think is perfect. And the cast is amazing – Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penelope Cruz are all in it too! I can’t wait to see it.
