In a sneak peek from this week’s episode of on MGM+, Rob is preparing to rob from the wealthy. The scene, from Sunday’s episode titled “Thieves with a Purpose,” features Rob (played by Jack Patten), Little John (Marcus Fraser), and Friar Tuck (Angus Castle-Doughty) planning their next move around a campfire.
Rob and his group have found a safe haven, but they’re running low on supplies. They can’t rely on hunting forever, and their money won’t last. To survive and send a message, they’re considering taking from the wealthy to provide for themselves and others.
Friar Tuck seems hesitant about the idea, but Rob is prepared to defend himself, and they don’t have many other choices. You can see the moment in the video above.
One of the things I’ve really been thinking about while watching is the character of Robert of Locksley, and how the story plays with the idea of who Robin Hood actually is – it’s not just about one person, but the legend itself. This idea of identity and how legends are built is a huge theme throughout the series. It makes you question everything – things like organized religion and why we put people on pedestals just because of what others say. It’s something Robert struggles with, and we get to see that struggle as his story unfolds. But if you’re into political intrigue and power plays, don’t worry, Robin Hood still delivers plenty of that too!
