MGM+ has renewed its Robin Hood series for a second season, which will begin filming this summer. The first season concluded airing late last year.
The show, a major success for MGM+ in its first season, will be filming its ten-episode second season at PFI Studios in Serbia.
Season 2 will take the story beyond its original setting of Sherwood and Nottingham, venturing into the dangerous political landscapes of England, France, and Rome. The fight led by the outlaws will escalate into a major struggle that determines the fate of the kingdom.
With the Angevin empire on the brink of collapse, Rob and Marian find themselves entangled with royalty. They must use the tools of Norman rule – including politics, wealth, and deception – to protect the Saxons and their future. Their struggle to survive soon becomes a deeper examination of power and its consequences.
Season 2 expands the story with both grand scale and personal feelings, intensifying the relationships and conflicts while presenting the familiar tale as a high-quality drama focused on love, what people leave behind, and the sacrifices made to achieve lasting fame.

John Glenn will return as the lead producer, but it’s still unknown which actors will reprise their roles. The first season featured Jack Patten as Rob, Lauren McQueen as Marian, Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, and Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Michael Wright, head of MGM+, announced that Robin Hood has become one of their most popular original series ever, receiving a fantastic reaction from viewers in the US and internationally.
We’re excited to announce a second season of this incredible story! Led by John Glenn, Jonathan English (executive producer and director), and a talented creative team, the show has beautifully retold this classic tale with impressive detail and realism. We’re eager to see what happens next.

So, I was reading an interview with the creators of that show, Jed Patten and Chris McQueen, back in November, and they pretty much said they’re really hoping to make a second season. They told the Manchester Evening News they’d “love to do” another one, which is great news for fans like me!
McQueen explained that the season wraps up in a compelling way for all the characters. While there’s potential for further development, the focus was on making season one the best it could be. He also highlighted the cast as incredibly talented and expressed his enthusiasm for audiences to discover these new performers.
“We were just like a big family at the end and I think you can really see that energy on screen.”
Robin Hood is available to watch on MGM+.
