Ready for Launch
On October 16th, the ROG Xbox Allies and ROG Xbox Ally X will make their debut in the United States and several major markets around the world, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The launch is also expected to extend to regions where the ROG Ally series is currently available for purchase. Further details regarding pricing and pre-orders will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
ROG (Republic of Gamers) and Xbox teamed up to create the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, devices designed to provide gamers with flexibility in how they game, whenever and wherever they choose. The ROG Xbox Ally runs on an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, which boasts four Zen 2 cores with eight threads and eight RDNA 2 GPU cores. This setup ensures high-performance efficiency, complemented by 16GB of LPDDR5X-6400 RAM, a 512GB M.2 SSD, and a 60Wh battery for prolonged gameplay.
This next-generation ROG Xbox Alloy X raises the stakes with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, a cutting-edge 8-core/16-thread Zen 5 APU featuring 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores and a built-in 50 TOPS Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The ROG Xbox Alloy X is equipped with 24GB of high-speed LPDDR5X memory, a 1TB M.2 solid-state drive, and offers an extended 80Wh battery for extended gaming sessions.
Optimized for Handheld
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the dedicated team at Xbox has been tirelessly collaborating with game studios, diligently testing and fine-tuning numerous PC titles for handheld compatibility. This innovative Handheld Compatibility Program is designed to deliver an exceptional launch experience for users of the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. On day one, games in our library that are compatible will proudly display either a ‘Handheld Optimized’ or ‘Mostly Compatible’ badge, ensuring you enjoy the best possible gaming experience right from the start!
Optimized for Handheld Play implies that the game is all set to play with default control settings, user-friendly text input, precise icon design, clear text visibility, and suitable resolution in full-screen mode, primarily designed for handheld devices. Generally Compatible suggests that the game might need minor adjustments within the game’s settings for an optimal experience on handheld devices.
As an enthusiastic gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the Xbox team is introducing an exciting new feature for the ROG Xbox Ally. This innovation, known as advanced shader delivery, will revolutionize our gaming experience! When you download a game, its shaders will be preloaded simultaneously, enabling supported games to launch up to 10 times faster, run more smoothly, and consume less battery life upon initial play. The best part? Xbox is committed to expanding this feature across an even broader range of games in the future. I can’t wait to see how this improves my gaming adventures!
The ROG Xbox Ally X sports AMD’s advanced Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, equipped with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This processor will usher in AI-enhanced features, beginning from early next year, with even more capabilities on the horizon. Some of these features are:
- Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) – a system-level feature that uses the power of the NPU to upscale games running at lower resolutions. This delivers high-resolution visuals and smooth framerates across a wide range of games, with no additional changes required from game developers.
- Highlight Reels – AI captures standout gameplay moments—like epic boss battles or victories—and generates short replay clips to share with friends or on social channels.
See the New ROG Ally Lineup in Action
At Gamescom 2025, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are expected to make their first playable appearances, accompanied by the entire 2025 lineup of ROG laptops that feature the newest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. Attendees will have the opportunity to trial these handheld devices with a collection of games like “Gears of War: Reloaded”, “Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade”, “DOOM: The Dark Ages”, “Hogwarts Legacy”, “Lies of P”, “Balatro”, “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”, and “Roblox” experiences such as “99 Nights in the Forest”, “Grow a Garden”, and “Rivals”.
Meet and Greet Two Amazing Actors
In order to mark the imminent debut of the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, ROG is teaming up once again with Grand Theft Auto V actors Ned Luke and Shawn Fonteno for the latest edition of their ROG Travel series. This time around, Ned takes on his character as a smart and witty supervisor, while Shawn steps into the role of a fresh recruit, offering innovative suggestions. Fans will have an opportunity to interact with these gaming legends in person, as they’ll be present at the ROG booth during the live event.
