Rondale Moore, Vikings Wide Receiver, Dead at 25

The NFL has lost a bright star.

Rondale Moore, a 25-year-old wide receiver formerly with the Minnesota Vikings, has died from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to The New York Times.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed deep sadness over the passing of Rondale, stating in a message on February 21st that although Rondale was only with the team for a short period, they had all grown to know and care for him. O’Connell described him as a kind, quiet, and respectful young man who was proud of his home state of Indiana. He also noted Rondale’s dedication and toughness as a player, highlighting his ability to overcome several injuries throughout his career.

We’re all deeply saddened that he won’t be able to continue his NFL career, and we’ll miss watching him succeed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rondale’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches during this incredibly difficult time.

Police say former athlete Todd Bailey was found dead in a New Albany, Indiana garage on February 21st. The Floyd County coroner confirmed to The New York Times that an autopsy is planned for February 22nd as investigators work to determine how he died.

Before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore was a standout player at Purdue University. He played three seasons for the Cardinals before a series of knee injuries led to a trade to the Atlanta Falcons. Unfortunately, he then suffered another knee injury during training camp with the Falcons and was placed on injured reserve.

Before the 2025 season, the player joined the Minnesota Vikings, but unfortunately tore his ACL in the first preseason game. This led to him being placed on injured reserve for the second time in his career.

While Moore had a rocky start to his NFL career, his love for the game will live on.

Rondale Moore was a fantastic player to coach,” said Jeff Brohm in a statement on X. “He was a relentless competitor who always embraced a challenge. Rondale’s dedication was incredible, and he was a supportive teammate who always delivered when it mattered.”

Rondale was a beloved member of the team, known for his positive attitude and drive to excel. We’re sending our deepest thoughts and prayers to him and his family during this difficult time, and want him to know how much we care about him, said Brohm.
