Rondale Moore’s friends and loved ones are expressing their heartbreak.
Following the death of the 25-year-old, believed to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, fellow NFL player Marquis “Hollywood” Brown—a former teammate of the deceased on the Arizona Cardinals—expressed his shock and sadness.
The Kansas City Chiefs player expressed disbelief on X (formerly Twitter) on February 21st, replying to someone who had messaged him just a few hours earlier.
Brown then shared numerous messages of sympathy about Moore’s passing, and also offered more details about their friendship with the Vikings receiver.
“You wasn’t alone bro..” Brown wrote in an additional message. “I told you I know how you feel.”
He also showed a text message he’d sent to Moore in August, shortly after Moore injured his ACL again. The message encouraged Moore to remember that “God is in control” even when things don’t go the way he expects.
Brown texted, “I’m here to listen if you ever want to talk.” He continued, “I know you’re going through a really tough time, but I believe in you. You’re strong and can get through this, so please don’t give up.”
The 28-year-old posted with a screenshot, saying, “I love you, man. I’ve always wanted to encourage you.”
After college football at Purdue, Moore was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. He played for the Cardinals for three seasons before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons due to several injuries. Unfortunately, he later suffered a knee injury during Falcons training camp and was placed on injured reserve.
He signed with the Minnesota Vikings before the 2025 season, but unfortunately tore his ACL again in the first preseason game, forcing him back onto injured reserve.
We’re all deeply saddened that he won’t be able to continue playing in the NFL, and we’ll miss watching his talent grow. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rondale’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches during this incredibly difficult time.

But while his time with the Vikings was short, Moore left an indelible impact on the team.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said in a statement on February 21st that the team had grown to know and care deeply for him. O’Connell described him as a humble, quiet, and respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana background. He noted that as a player, he was disciplined, hardworking, and always bounced back from injuries, even though he faced many setbacks throughout his career.
