For many North American anime fans, Ronin Warriors was one of the earliest anime series to become widely available, originally airing as a Saturday morning cartoon. Though it later gained popularity on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block, few expected the show to return after so many years. Luckily, Sunrise, the animation studio, recently announced an official sequel set to release in 2026, and a new trailer suggests the next generation of heroes will be even more powerful than before.
The upcoming sequel to Ronin Warriors will feature a new team of heroes – Gai, Kaito, Musashi, Yamato, and Shion – but they’ll be fighting in the same iconic armor as the original characters. This includes the Armor of Wildfire, Halo, Torrent, Hardrock, and Strate, which gave the first team their powers. The latest trailer shows this new generation of Ronin Warriors using their abilities. We don’t yet know who the villains will be, or if they’ll have the “Four Season Armors” seen in the original series. You can watch a preview of the new season below.
Ronin Warriors Kicking Off The New Year
The sequel to Ronin Warriors is scheduled to premiere in January, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. While fans are excited for its return, January is already a very busy month for new anime releases. It will be competing for attention with popular shows like the third season of Jujutsu Kaisen, the second seasons of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Oshi no Ko, Trigun: Stargaze, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and many other series. Hopefully, there’s a large enough fanbase for the original Ronin Warriors to ensure the sequel gets the attention it deserves and can live up to the expectations of longtime fans.
If you missed the first season, you can now watch the anime that started it all on Crunchyroll. Here’s what the streaming service says about it: Long ago, a powerful evil spirit tried to take over the world, but was defeated and forced into hiding, vowing to return for revenge. A thousand years later, people have forgotten about the spirit, known as Arago, Emperor of Doom. When strange black clouds appear over Tokyo and an eerie laugh fills the air, the world is thrown into terror as this evil spirit makes its comeback!
