Next January is shaping up to be a huge month for anime fans! We’re expecting the return of many popular series, including Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Oshi no Ko, Hell’s Paradise, Golden Kamuy, The Medalist, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, and Trigun Stargaze – and that’s just the beginning! Plus, Ronin Warriors is coming back with a sequel, the first new episodes in over 30 years. A new trailer for Ronin Warriors 2026 has just been released, giving fans a sneak peek at the updated series – and it looks quite different from what they might remember.
The original Ronin Warriors anime gained popularity around the world because of its exciting action and storytelling style, which was similar to Japanese “Sentai” shows. This allowed it to be broadcast in North America on Saturday mornings and eventually on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block. While the first series had some funny moments, the upcoming sequel appears to be much more focused on comedy, based on the recently released preview. Fans of Ronin Warriors can check out the preview while they wait for the anime’s return with a new team of heroes.
Ronin Warriors’ Return
Just a reminder for those who might have missed the announcement: the new Ronin Warriors anime coming in 2026 will be a fresh start with a completely new team of heroes. Instead of seeing the original characters return, we’ll meet Gai, Kaito, Musashi, Yamato, and Shion as the new warriors wearing the legendary armor. It’s still unknown if the original heroes will appear or if the old villains will resurface. The fact that Ronin Warriors is getting a sequel almost thirty years after the original series gives fans of any show hope for a comeback!
If you missed the original series, you can now watch it on Crunchyroll! Here’s what the streaming service says about the anime that started it all: “A long time ago, a powerful evil spirit tried to take over the human world. Though defeated, he promised to return for revenge. Now, a thousand years later, people have forgotten about Arago, the Emperor of Doom. When dark clouds appear over Tokyo and a creepy laugh fills the air, the world is thrown into terror as this evil spirit makes his comeback!”
